I like the HD's..But I have an interesting opinion here...

Kyle Petty lost the Sprint PCS sponsorship for next season..
Rumor has it Harley is gonna sponsor him for next year. Now we all know Petty Enterprises runs Dodge.

Does this mean that Harley will shoot their packages over to Dodge??

HMMM? HMMM??

Dont get upset at the Ignorant L remarks..Hes just starting some trouble..Firing yall up..We will all be friends in the end..Besides maybe the Harley guys will all get that cool tailgate setup with the kegs and grills and we can party with them!!!!!

Matt

BTW, from the other thread, Razor's Edge is located in Margate, just off of State Rd 7 and Copans Rd, across the street from Maroone Ford..............shoot me an email, and I'll tell u how to contact him, etc, for when you do get the truck. I hung around here for like 3 or 4 months before I bought my Lightning, so ask as much as you can think of..............these guys are extremely helpful and very knowledgable.
Wow...I didn't know they were down in Margate. I'll ahve to stop in when I head down to Florida in September for my wedding.

Anything going on towards the end of Sept ?

Tee hee, hee!! Someones sure got their panties in a wad because Ford put a version of the L engine in something other than a SVT product. I have just the opposite reaction...I know that when they start dispersing the hp amongst the troops, that there's another 'big dog' about to be revealed. I'm glad they're building more of these supercharged engines, because then the market for aftermarket parts matures. Instead of one or two specialized tuners, there will be ones who will diversify. Also, checking the demographics for the Harley owners will probably show they are a little more mature, and although they may have deeper pockets, they want a more tried and tested product. All in all, it points to a bonanza of quality aftermarket goodies for all involved. Yippee!!!

well said, Loco...

I *am* holding my breath for an 04 or 05 L that will score some viper like horsepower... Then, I WILL have to find a place in the garage for my HD AND an new L...

All and all, I have found just about every single L owner very accomodating and quite cool...

I guess there are always a few with a couple of screws loose that don't see the big picture.

I see this is becoming a Mustang GT vs Cobra war.

I bought an L to get away from this kind of crap on the Corral.

Some of you people need to grow up.

I dont see anything wrong with HD owners using this forum. Its thee same damn motor with less boost. Sure, no one is happy with Ford using the L motor in a production truck, but whats done is done. Live in harmony.

Lightning owners got shafted when ford put OUR motor in some 4 door grocery getter and made it sound like "hey this is a four door "L". well it's not! it will never be. it's just politics in action. tit for tat. Some pencil pushers money making scheme. they said: Guys, guys wouldn't it be cool if we could put a "L" engine in a harley badged S-Crew.OH YEA! but people might think it's an SVT, that's o.k. we'll sell a bunch and make everyone with 4 kids happy because they can drive a psuedo "L". . . I just choose to drive the "real Thing
Wow, I'm glad the 'L' owners I have meet haven't been at all like this guy

Like stated in a previous post, trickle down is good. Kind of nice to see that a bigger dog is out on the horizon.

As ot "Lightning owners getting shafted when Ford put OUR motorin some 4 door. . . " Dude Ford was just answering a NEED in the market for another truck configuration. If you feel shafted by that, great. I am sure most HD owners have no intentions of pretending to be a "L' owner like you. Perhaps the cathoid ray tube you are sitting infront of has leaked a little to much radiation and thus rendered you intolerant of any posts that don't conform to your mandate that "none shall post in the L forum who do not own an L" Might I suggest a brief break in your daily dose, maybe a nice cold drink, some chips and a little football would help.

BTW, to coin words made famous by Forest Gump "I'm sorry i spoiled your little lightning party. . . "

Talking

Ahh... such a nice atmosphere in here...
Everyone should just unite to take down ricers...

So here is a good couple of questions -- do the HD and L have the same tranny? I think that the L tranny is modified to handle the extra power....It wouldn't be fun to add more hp on the HD and then have the tranny blow up. How about the brakes?

brakes on the HD are upgraded over the standard f150 but I don't think they are the same as the L. If someone knows the answer to this one, I would like to know. I have considered upgrated brakes, but they are freaking expensive. The tranny is the same (4R100). The driveshaft on the otherhand is a question... It is a 2 peice steel unit that was specifically designed by Dana to reduce NVH. There are 4 or 5 guys in the HD forums that have an 8lb lower with a bunch of other goodies which should be producing somewhere in the range of a well tuned L with a 4-6lb lower. They have run them down the track quite a bit and there are no failures (yet). I would suspect that the 2 piece is fine in terms of strength at the joints... I am going to put some kind of traction bar on to minimize axle wrap in the hopes that the 2pc doesn't fail due to stress near the diff from bending.
