Thumbs down FREEDOM FORD IS FULL OF CROOKS! major vent

WARNING: FREEDOM FORD "of clearwater" RIPS PEOPLE OFF!

I have spent a week refinancing my truck after my lease ended so that I can lower the payments and finish paying for her. My salesman,or should I say personal thief, has hidden 800$ of BS charges into my refinancing paperwork. This dealer originally screwed me out of 500 bux on my trade in back when I began my lease in 99. I have documented proof of my papers being changed after they were signed showing the addition of 400 dollars for "internal fees" and that they returned my original 400 dollar deposit from the actual lease.

They did not return any money to me and I am sicking my companie's lawyer on them as we speak. The guys to watch out for are mainly the head financing agents who work in offices in the back. (like cowards) The fat bald guy who heads that department is the only original employee who was there to screw me the 1st time. He no doubt controls the majority of the bad practices at this dealership. I will also contact Ford HQ directly and plead my case. I love Ford and I cant stand that these "dealers" are allowed to conduct business in this fashion. I let the original "screwing" slide till now. The fact that after 3 years and a toatally different salesman I still get F'd???? This is sooooooooooooo far from over, they have no idea....

Dude, if I were you I'd be a little careful of what I said on these boards. Not to take any steam out of your rant (probably deserved by those people), but you may be getting a little close to getting yourself in trouble (slander/ defimation of character and the like). Especially after you made mention of the location and of one of the people involved by name. Get them the legal way and keep yourself clean.

Just my .02

I dont think it is considerd slander if they actually did it and I have documented proof. Why would it be wrong to warn people so they dont get taken in by these guys? Iam persuing it legally and it will become proven fact. There is no way they can deny it, they actually did it to themselves thinking they were all slick and that Im retarded or something.

WEBMASTER: if this post is illegal, please remove it for both our sakes. Im sure you undertand my feelings on this situation.

I bought my Mustang GT at Freedom Ford (US19) on A-Plan. I figured out via my Credit Union what my paymens shoudl ball-park be.

When I went to sign the paperwork it was 200 more per month!

Turns out they wanted like 2% more interest then what was agreed, added some $2500 extended Waranty, "paint protection", etched VIN into the windows, and bunch of other B.S.

I pulled out a pre-approved check from my Credit Union, told them "Thank you very much" for the FREE add ons that are now on MY car, and what is the bottom line A-Plan price for car+destination+tax (I then verified it via FoMoCo's invoice).

Oh man, that Credit fool was PISSED OFF. I told him he can either do it right, or I'll be on the phone to Ford and the media first thing tomorrow morning.

My sales guy was cool though, and when I walked out he had a look on his face like he was ashamed that he didn't warn me on what was about to happen before I walked in.

It's all good... I've learned to sit down to these things prepared, and an alternate plan.

/tg

P.S. Oh, there was NONE of these add-ons on the car that they were trying to charge me for!!!

I just wish someone would do something about it. This kinda thing disgusts me. My company sells electronic signs that cost as much anything ford sells and we dont pull crap like that. We do financing and everything for them and we hide absolutely nothing. Guess what?.....we still make money, the honest way

So you all will know, most dealerships change the actual buyer's contract in a way that will afford them more benefits, BUT they actually do NOT charge you anymore.

Treadwell Ford in Mobile, AL does this all the time. They show that you paid original price for the vehicle (I mean EXACTLY what the window stickers state), then they "claim" they gave you more of a trade allowance, etc.

In the end you still paid for what you agreed, but for some reason they want to show that they got more for it. Anyone know why exactly? I haven't really gave it much though. I think it may look better to any potential financing company, i.e. you get a better loan to value ratio.

What do you all think?

Go get um dude. I do however agree with blackbolt's opinion. Scum like that is all too common in the auto industry.

The only thing that comes to mind, is in many states you only pay tax on the difference. So if you buy a 30k truck and trade in a 10k car, you only pay tax on 20k.

So, possibly, though it seems that this would not be something the states would like to hear about: if they could show the state that you traded in a 15k vehicle then they could pocket the "spare" tax from additional 5k

But this seems like a stretch to me. <shrug>

Good thinking!!!, but actually, I still pay the "correct" amount of tax. I pay no different on anything by law, and I still only pay for what we agreed on. It's just that they change the contract to say I paid MORE for the truck and got MORE for my trade.

I can only assume they do this for the loan/value ratio for the customer, which will in turn keep the customer from having to come up w/ a down payment. This will nearly guarantee them the sale.

Other than that, it may look better to Ford as well??? What other reasons can we come up w/? Anyone else?

Two of my friends on two different occasions traded in there old vehicles in which they still owed money on (several thousand), and the dealership made them believe that they (the dealership) would pay the vehicles off. Instead the dealership tacked on the amount owed onto the new vehicle the customer bought and still kept the tradins. So basically the dealership got these trades in for nothing. I can't say my friends were the most observent but they dealership new what they were doing. The salesperson's ask what the customers want to pay a month and the salespersons takes full advantage off that, even if it takes the customer 6 years to pay a vehicle off. This was a Dodge and a Ford dealership. Advice to the customer: shop for a low interest rate, pay the invoice price- sometimes you can get a $100 under invoice. Sell your old vehicle outright instead of trading it in- try too at least, you never know! It sucks buying a new vehicle but you eventually learn. The dealership here in Warner Robins, GA where I live hasn't tacked any additional prices to there SVT vehicles. They aslo gave me $100 below invoice on a new GT Mustang and it just arrived on the lot that week. They even swapped the Torque Thrust wheels off another Mustang for me for no extra charge
