Guys w/ Hard Tonneau Covers

Do you guys keep locking and unlocking your covers or do you just drive with them unlocked and lock when you feel necessary?
The reason I ask is because I open mine all the time and it is becoming a PITA to keep locking and unlocking, say nothing for the fact that I do not want to scratch the paint.

Any suggestions or just live with it.

Thanks
VINNIE

VINNIE,

I just leave mine unlocked unless I will be somewhere that it will need locking.....it is a real PITA to do all the time........

I keep mine locked at all times.........it only takes like 2 seconds to unlock so I don't find it a PITA.

There was someone on this board a couple of years ago that had a hydraulically operated cover. I saw a truck with one and it is really eye-catching. It's on my long-term list for mods, maybe one of these days.

I keep it locked all the time and the tailgate is a must to keep locked. Only takes like 2 mins to pop the tailgate off and with the tonneau covering it and locked makes it even harder if they tryed to steal it. Takes me like 2 seconds to unlock mine i figure that 2 seconds is worth it if it keeps anything from getting stolen.

Thanks guys

I guess I will live with locking and unlocking for now.I will have to think of something though to solve this.I have seen the electric lifts for the covers in magazines.Oh Well I guess another mod needs to be done.

I keep mine locked. I have trust issues with some members of society who like to take other people's property....

If pulling out your key and locking/unlocking becomes to much of a burden, then I will help you out and take the cover off your hands.

Buy a electric tail gate lock. Mod it to fit your cover. works with your remote and power door locks.
Sweet, no more locking with key. Total cost was $65.00
You can buy two and install one on the tail gate, but that is really over kill.

Need more details. How do you mod it to work with the cover?
This sounds like a good idea.
Since I keep all my cleaning products in the back and I constantly take stuff out throughout the day(ex.clean winshield, exhaust pipes, any bird crap...etc.) so this might be a big help.

Thanks
