I wouldn't do the change, especially if you do much daily driving. Your mpg will sink.

I am more concerned with performance than fuel mileage. I was just curious if anyone had tried both the 3.73's and 4.10's in the 1/4 mi. and what they gained or lost???????
Thanks

Me to, but I am also concerned about freeway crusing. if im cruising at 85-90(which i never do, but what if) what will my rpm be. 3k, 3200, higer???? For me, the truck will be a daily driver. I will go on the freeway a lot. I dont want my truck running 3k rpm at extended periods of time every day. Its been a long time since ive been in a lightning, 6 months at least, but with 3.73s the truck usually runs about 2200rpm at 75 right?

I have 4.10's in my 2000 L and used to love them. I was consistently .2 seconds faster than other L's with the same mods. That was before 4lb pulley and long tube headers though. Now, it is super hard to hook up and so I am actually slower because all I do is spin unless I go 3/4 throttle until 35mph!! Literally, anytime I floor the beast at under 35mph, I start spinning. I am receiving some slicks next week so I can't wait to get back to the track and see how fast she will do with all the new mods. If you want a fast daily driver, keep your 3.73s

By the way, I noticed very little gas mileage difference (less than 1 mpg). I know thats very surprizing, but what can I say. I would strongly recommend going with other mods, like slicks or something. That way, you will be faster at the track and still have some traction on the street.

What about freeway cruising? What RPM do you run at?

My 01 with 3.73s and OEM tires/wheels runs at about 2500 rpms at 80 mph.

If you want the best of both worlds then you use 26" et streets at the strip...this along with 373 gear equal out to the 410 gear, give or take.

There was an 00 at the strip last night with 410 gear and 28 in tall slicks with a 6# pulley and my 00 with 373 gear,26 tall et streets,a 6# and upper pulley was almost 3 /10ths faster than this other truck that weighed 400#'s less.
