Stainless Steel Washers for Front End Clunk

Hey Guys,

Thinking about making the clunk washers in Stainless Steel and selling them for a lot less than Herbs. Herb makes the ones he sells out of steel. I think $50.00 is way to much for two washers.
He was charging $40.00, then went up to $50.00.

I can get them made and sell them for almost half the price of $50.00 and in SS.

You guys interested?

Question

Why would you want to make them out of stainless?? They are covered by the bolt head, and I believe that stainless may be a problem because it is brittle.

My 2 cents worth.

Hmmm.... Do you have a good lawyer ? I believe Herb has a patent on these.

I think your figures are off a little also. If memory serves me correctly, they were $35, and went to $50.

I'm very happy with mine as they are. Do you really think dead rabbits care if mine are low carbon steel, or stainless steel ?

I still live by the motto of Shelly Dugan (famous sign painter and truck letterer in Longview, Wa.) "Good aint cheap, & cheap aint good".

I could save alot on gasoline costs also if I didn't care, and wanted to burn cheap crap. BTW, 91 octane is $1.95 where I live at.

If Herbs pricing bothers you that much.........Be a hero, make them, and give them away for free. You'll have lots of friends then.

Why not use your head and come up with your own ideas for a product to market ?

How about just welding the existing washers to the frame?

5 minutes and some spray paint and its all better.

Worked for me.

It's called capitalism. If it's more , it's gotta be better right?

DL, I've got a great lawyer you could use, considering you've allready admitted you used herbs name and used his washers without consent to patent your own mold. Just my two cents worth. Jeff p.s. i've been looking for you at the track!!!!!!!!!!

You know I bought those washers and they didn't even fit my slot on my truck? I ended up welding them to the arm and then bolting them up there.

Hmmm..

Well, I'll have to check into the patent thing, I doubt he has patented them. If so, then I guess you can make your own or get the ones Herb sells from him.

Thanks for the feedback.

I could make them for free for you guys and you then you could donate some money to me because you like me.

Fords TSB washers won't work and I'll make sure my washers will be as good or better, and different then Herbs.

I get tired of seeing the price go up on stuff because its in demand and being charged more because it's for a Lightning.

Sainless depending upon the grade may not be the best choice of material. Much better alternative that are easier to machine.

Talked with my design engineer today. Maybe make them out of Carbon Steel and get them Zinc plated??

Researching the best kind of metal material to use. I'm checking into the SS being brittle. If I use SS, I'll get a good grade. I'll find an expert in metal and ask about using SS for the washers.
