i know, i know

It was the umpa lumpa hiding in the grassy knole!!!

For real though....this is a crap situation. It sucks for Jim because he was DQ'D. It sucks for Sal because he's being made to look like the Jerk. And it sucks for JL because he won and it's being overshadowed by this dark crap cloud. It also sucks for us here on the board because most of us are tired of listening to this tuner war he said she said bull****. Tune the trucks......buy the parts......run the trucks. Simple. In the words of the Rock.."Shut.......your damn mouth.....Jabronis!!!"

I guess I'll add my opinion after hearing everyone else. The promoters of these events have rules. This rule sounds like a stupid one, but there is probably a reason for it. If I was racing for money and the next guy isn't following the rules he should be disqualified. These racers spend lots of money on safety equipment like roll cages, drive shaft loops, transmission blankets, proper lugs and lug nuts, battery cut off switches that work correctly, mufflers, helmets, wearing the proper clothes, etc. If I had just spent thousands of dollars getting my truck ready to pass tech and the guy next to me doesn't have the correct equipment and the tech doesn't catch him it isn't my fault he is going to be disqualified when I complain to tech. He should have prepped his truck correctly. These guys are racing for money. This is not just a stop light to stoplight run what'cha brung race.

This is from the world ford challenge web site:
"IT IS THE COMPETITOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO INSURE BOTH CAR & DRIVER ARE IN COMPLIANCE WITH NHRA SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE VEHICLE'S PERFORMANCE LEVEL. "

BTW, how much was the purse?

That's pretty fast for a truck with just Chip & NOS. JL seems to be getting these NOS trucks flying now also.
Yeah, that was my truck. JL burned us a chip on Thursday in his van after we teched with explicit instructions from me to "keep it mild". Without a chip, the truck still went a 12.88 @ 109 mph at Bandimere Speedway (5800 ft. altitude). Besides the NX wet nitrous kit, the truck has the full Bassani exhaust, an electric fan, a K&N drop-in filter, and MT 28X10.50 E/T Streets. JL really helped us out over the course of the weekend and he did a great job with the chip, so hats off to him. It was unfortunate that we had trouble with the micro switch for the nitrous system during qualifying, because we would have qualified #1 in the SL class. We were really surprised with the way the truck performed, but I think I'm going to sell it in favor of an '03 Cobra. Oh, and for the record, the truck ran a 12.10 @ 110.8 mph. Thanks for the interest, though, and a special thanks to JL!
