What will Ford do 4 2003?
blowntruck, There are still waaay less L's made than the HD's though. I think the reason that you see sooo many L's is that they are usually concentrated in one area. I hardley see any L's around here. About 3 a year maybe. And i see about 20 HD trucks in a year, but usually its just a few HD's and i see the same trucks occasionally. Nobody around me has a HD, closest guy is half hour away (and i live in a pretty populated area). Your L's are still waaay more exclusive than our HD's. Hopefully ford won't go over kill on the 02's and 03's. There are enough out there. I say 12 K a year should be max built for the HD's and thats more than i would like, but ford wants to make money so.....
o yeah blowntruck, i'm gonna rotate my tires on June 12th. Sorry about all the delays, but i gotta do it on the 12th cuz i have a show on the 15th and i'm gonna start working on the truck the 12th. so i'll remember to weight them for ya.

The first time I knew the Lightning was no longer exclusive was when I drove to Home Depot one day and saw THREE in the parking lot.
I drove there the same week with my wife but in her truck, a F250 superduty, dual cab, etc.....
Her truck was the ONLY F250 or F350 on the lot and she pointed it out to me.
Here's the original thread from July, 2001.
By the way, if you're wondering, I didn't put a 6 speed in the L, instead I sold it.

Maybe it's a California phenomenon, but I swear I see other Lightnings on a DAILY basis. They're about as commonplace here as a Corvette.
Maybe I should get one of those new Mini Coopers. I haven't seen one of those yet except on a dealer lot

Harley#356,
Yea you are probally right about them being concentrated in one area. Hey, thanks for remembering me and the wheel weight!
BTW, one of my neigbors has a MINI Cooper, they are so nice. Hope they don't get overkilled like the P/T Cruiser did.

I've noticed lately that I see way more Lightning's than Cobra's in my area. I found that strange because Ford makes more of the cobra's than the L's. It must have something to do with the increase in truck popularity in the past few years. I heard that Ford is making 12,000 of the new cobra's and only 4,000 L's in 2003. Are these #'s correct? With the Lightning becoming more and more popular I figured it would be the other way around. Love the new Cobra though, that is one bad *** s/c machine.
My guess is if you were to compare the # of regular f-150's to the # of lightnings then they are very limited
The idea of suggesting ford stop making a truck that people would have never thought possible ( a blown factory truck) 10 years ago, don't think thats so good.
Or i guess ford could come out with a truck that cost twice as much and then they would be more limited as most people couldn't afford them. (hard to afford a new truck at the price they are now)
Don't really here about mustang guy's complaining about seeing themselves comming, wether they have a cobra or not.
Personally I give ford credit for making a truck that is atleast possibly affordable by most people - they are still high priced as are all vehicles but atleast they are not $100,000+ , if people want a limited vehicle buy one of those.

Hey, we should all just count our blessings that Ford even makes these trucks.
We could be like the poor GM faithful...... waiting for years for the Silverado SS........ and now all they will get is a rebadged C3!!!!! LMAO.
Specs:
Extended cab only
6.0 N/A
345hp, 380lb ft of torque
over 5000 lbs.
How lame can you get.

I can't believe i just read this whole thread. He Doug, you could easily cut this down to about two pages if you cut out all the hot air!!!
You are right on the head with that one Harley. Before I bought my truck I saw 1 Lightning, yes 1. Almost a year later a see at least 6 of them regularly. 1 was parked in my neighbors driveway the other day, was visiting from out of state. I think the reason being is here in the Greater Boston Area, there are about 6 SVT Dealers in a 40 mile radius. Travel outside this radius and they are scarce(unless of course you are at NEW ENGLAND DRAGWAY). Even up the strip, 60-70 percent of the trucks are from right around where I live, the rest are from here and there all over. So I guess it really depends on how many dealers are in your area. There are 2 in my driveway, me and my dad's.
