Jet Hot Coated vs. Stainless

I did a search but cant find anything.
What is the difference between the jet hot coated and the stainless headers? well i guess the question isnt whats the differecne but what are the advantages and disadvantages of each?

One more thing. This is an opinion question for those who have heard both the longtube setup with the bassani and the longtube setup with the silver bullet. Which one sounds better?

coated keep the engine cooler, but have a hard time with passing emissions.

stainless run hotter so the burn up the gas better, but heat up the engine more

Coated actually hold the heat better which theoritically will mean more horsepower. Stainless allow more heat to escape; probably last longer than a coating.

J15,

Stainless will be here long after you, me, and the trucks are gone. Coated will sooner or later rust, made from mild steel. I'm sure they are good too but I have stainless and wouldn't trade.

I've not heard the silver bullit other than in mpegs and they sound great. I have personal experience with Bassani and Longtubes and I can say that you would definitely love the sound.

From what I've heard/read, they sound very similar. The silver bullit has gotten some great reviews but the Bassani has too. I wouldn't trade mine for anything. They ROCK, guaranteed!

You should be very happy with either one. Good luck!

Tim

I have the jet coated. I love them. But harder times passing emissions? Maybe thats why mine still stink, even after well over 200 miles on them.

I have a couple of questions.
Has anyone not passed emissions with just the addition of a coated long tube header system? Don't the Kooks coated headers have a lifetime warranty?
If the Kooks coated headers have a lifetime warranty and no one with them has failed emissions, and the keep engine compartment temps cooler, then why would anyone get the stainless?

All the setups sound good in their own ways...

BUT....

I have noticed the Long Tubes/High Flow Cats/Bassani Cat back had made the most change in ET times & Dyno....

I dont think there is one person with that setup that has said they didnt gain power and ET reduction....

Cool

Hey,

What about getting the SS headers and having them ceramic coated on the outside only?

This way, you have the best of both worlds. They will burn hotter inside the chambers then the mild steel ones (more power), You don't have to worry about them rusting, the engine area will be cooler, and hopefully they will generate more TRQ and HP than the ceramic coated mild steel ones.

So the best setup is probably sals lontubes, high flow cats, and midpipes along with the bassani catback? Any dyno #s or ET reduction #s??

I'm not sure where you are getting that info from???
I had Jet Hot Coated headers on my old 94 firehawk LT1 and passed smog no problems here in Tree Hugging California. I had those headers on the car for well over a year and the coating was still holding up well.
