vicksmotor,
I agree with you on how we pay to much taxes but thats about it. The government does seem like they rob us, but the US is still the best country in the world.

I agree with whitestx. What does his post have to do with the opening post and then his only retort is to resort to name calling.. how juvenile and small minded is that? If you dont like it here, then go.. no one is keeping you here.. I have visited several countries and wouldnt want to be anywhere else. It aint perfect but it is the best place in the world to live.
God Bless America

I'm not even going to waste my time with a long reply. However, it seems like nearly everyone that replied to the original post are "seasoned officers", MUST know EVERYTHING there is about being a police officer. Yet, they are all wrong. Stop whining about getting tickets. They aren't normally given out for no reason at all, atleast by myself anyway. I have NO ticket "quota". I get absolutely NOTHING, other than being verbally abused by people who "pay my salary" or "know the mayor", for writing tickets. My reply to these people, well tell the mayor we need a raise next time you have lunch with him.

Driving is one of the most dangerous things that people do in a day. Speeding and traffic signal violations are the top causes for serious injury and fatal accidents. So why do you think cities place traffic enforcement so high on the priority list????

Until some people have done the job, they have NO reason to be so critical of us who do the job everyday. When you go to your office job, do you kiss your wife and children good bye for what could be the LAST TIME IN YOUR LIFE?? Do you wear body armor while sitting at your desk?? Can you be personally sued and lose everything YOU have earned in your life for being "mean" to one of your customers??

Lastly, police officers are human, we are not robots. We have feelings, emotions, and families, just like everyone else. Are there bad cops out there?? Absolutely. Are there people who are cops that have no reason to be?? Absolutely. Just because you had a bad experience with one, don't prejudice us all.

"A Police Officer Speaks"
Well, Mr. Citizen, it seems you've figured me out. I fit neatly into the category where you've placed me. I'm stereotyped, standardized, characterized, classified, grouped and always typical. Unfortunately, the reverse is true. I can never figure you out. From birth you teach your children that I'm the bogeyman, then you're shocked when they identify with my traditional enemy...the criminal! You accuse me of coddling criminals...until I catch your kids doing wrong. You may take an hour for lunch and several coffee breaks each day, but point me out as a loafer for having one cup. You pride yourself on your manners, but think nothing of disrupting my meals with your troubles. You raise hell with the guy who cuts you off in traffic, but let me catch you doing the same thing and I'm picking on you. You know all the traffic laws...but you've never gotten a single ticket you deserved. You shout "foul" if you observe me driving fast to a call, but raise the roof if I take more than ten seconds to respond to your complaint. You call it part of my job if someone strikes me, but call it Police brutality if I strike back. You wouldn't think of telling your dentist how to pull a tooth or your doctor how to take out an appendix, yet you are always willing to give me pointers on the law. You talk to me in a manner that would get you a bloody nose from anyone else, but expect me to take it without batting an eye. you yell something's got to be done to fight crime, but you can't be bothered to get involved. You have no use for me at all, but of course it's OK if I change a flat for your wife, deliver your child in the back of the Patrol car, or perhaps save your son's life with mouth to mouth breathing, or work many hours overtime looking for your lost Daughter. So, Mr. Citizen, you can stand there on your soapbox and rant and rave about the way I do my work, calling me every name in the book, but never stop to think that your property, family or maybe even your life depends on me or one of my buddies. Yes, Mr. Citizen, it's me the cop!

Hey, I don't evem get mad, or anxious when I get pulled over anymore. I don't even go nuts looking for the insurance card anymore. I just keep the hands out the door where the cop can see them. When I am being told my violations I just remain neutral and subjective. The officer can put whatever he likes on the ticket.

I have a lawyer.

7 years of hauling ***, over 28 citations; yet a clean driving record.

So write me up for whatever, it's still going to go away.

It still grieves me why (in my city, Houston) we had a MASSIVE increase in police force yet still an increase in crime and violence. If you look at the roadways, it's easy to see why: cars that could be patroling neighborhoods are sitting on the sides of roadways with expensive laser guns trying to gain easy revenue.

Revenue force, yes; police force, no.

And you are proud of that?? That is totally sorry.

Cruisers driving in neighborhoods do not reduce violence or crime by themselves. Those stats are made up from statistics from police reports. The more they report, the higher the rates. If you have a problem with your government, take it up with the people YOU vote into office. They are YOUR representatives.

Most of my traffic only details are initiated by residents complaining in areas. They get tired of thier children getting hit by cars, or numerous accidents at intersections, so they complain to the PD or the city.

You obviously hate the police and don't care about other people's safety when you drive. There is nothing else worth saying. Good luck with #29 and your traffic attorney on retainer.

Dear Mr. Master of Pain,

I don't understand the lawyer thing getting you out of 28 citations. Maybe having a lawyer for the first couple of citations may have helped, but any Judge would throw the book at you for the next 26 citations. If you do in fact have a Lawyer in your pocket, and he has a Judge in his back pocket, then I would hope all of those members who live in and around Houston would contact the State's Attorney General and request a full investigation. If a Judge can be bought for a couple of tickets, can he be bought for a murder trial? And I know that the Officers that wrote those citations have the right to appeal the decision of a Judge to a higher court should he not agree with the findings. It's hard to believe that 28 Officers in Houston all excepted the citations being dismissed without a hearing or trial. Somethings pretty fishy and I hope someone gets it investigated.

Yup. Some guy was complaining because he didn't like a law and thought it was unfair if it applied to him.

Then someone complained about living in the USA, but I doubt he/she will ever leave. Doesn't make sense, but maybe he/she is just a whiner.

Then a bunch told him to leave.

Then someone made a comment about the NLOC which didn't make sense.

Then a Police Officer made a honest statement.

Then someone bragged about getting a bunch of tickets but beat them all.

Then someone point out that maybe getting all those citations is not something to brag about.

Then I thought "all this is in writing!"

And that's when I started laughing...
