Last night I removed the bottom half of the stock air box and zip-tied the stock filter to the top half. Sort of a ghetto style mod. It seems to be making up to 10psi now. I will be getting a K&N panel filter sometime this week. I will see if this adds en gusto at all, or just adds to the whine. Also, I have one question. I saw the picture of the boost bypass disconnect dealie, but I don't know exactly which one to disconnect. Is it the red and black connector towards the top?

Hey:

I got this from Volant's website.

"Some customers increased their gas mileage by 1 to 2 gallons per mile. "

I knew some of those Dodges were gas hogs but CRIPES!

Seriously, I am thinking of trying out that Volant box. It looks pretty cool.

The bypass in the pic is already disconected and the connector is laying just in front and to the left of the dump valve. Its the wires labeled SC3 with the tape.

Disconnecting it keeps the boost from being 'dumped' when doing a burnout at the track. It also allows for WOT shifts as you run down the track. If your boost get's dumped, it take a few seconds for it to build back up--and you sit there--powerless. Btw, mine has been disconnected for 18,000 miles with no problems .

If you want a cheap "Cold Air System" here you go. Buy or borrow a 4" hole saw and buy a #50-476 Blast Gate the 4" hose #50-530 and a couple of their hose clamps. Drill the hole in the center of the box closest to the motor. Snake the 4" down to and through the plastic fenderliner, you must trim some of the plastic. Then add a scoop of your choice and you have a system that can be closed for bad weather. http://www.deltawoodworking.com/cata....asp?cat_id=26

>Lrod does disconnecting it=boost bypass on a 2001 L set a code in the computer, being the ever so computer concious, critter that i have become thank you L ?,also if it is disconnected ,does the rev limmiter still not shut you down? or is that the boost bypass doing that?=still stock, and i guess i will stay that way untill one of the tuners answers the age old question ,of how to set the onboard computer back to stock code, after anykind of a mod ?

I think that this weekend I am gonna try and make my own ram air system. I will check out Home Depot and see what they have that I can use to make it. If I can work something out then I will probably order a drop in K&N Air Filter. I am sure that the 2-300 dollar system that most of the tuners have provide the optimum air flow, but I don't think I want to spend that kinda money right now. I will let you all know what I find out.

It started out as a Taylor Scoop I then cut it to fit inside the grill. I had to remove quite a bit of it to get it to fit. It is the same scoop Johnny Lightning uses in his ram air kit. I found it at a local speed shop, I think I paid 10 bucks for it. The hose is 3" dryer duct which I got at home depot.

Here is a pic of Johnny lightnings ram air, so you can see what it started out as,

Gentlemen,

Holy Crap! is what I would say as well.

I drilled a few holes in the airbox and installed the K&N and what a difference! (and it only cost $50)

Seriously

How does this cheap mod compare to say JDM's standard setup or $200 or psp's standard setup for $200. Has anyone done a comparison? I am really impressed with what i have heard. I just installed the jdm along with a chip and oil breather cap and I dont spin my tires when shifting into 2nd. b
