Pauls high performance is like one of the other names we keep hearing about,
he runs hardly any parts he sells nor has he for over a year. He runs all parts from ford.
his car has run 11.3's with much more modifications. to my knowledge, my buddy has the 2nd fastest true bolt on mustang ever. Bob Cosby being the only true bolt on mustang to ever run 11's, with an 11.85, had he not busted an input shaft at Cecil on the 15'th, his 1/8 timeslip had him set for an 11.70
my buddy ran 12.0's with solid axle, 4.56's, exhaust, pullies, shorties, cold air kit, and chip.
he drives the crap outta that thing, he was hoping to join bob at the end of the year as the 2nd true bolt on mustang to ever run 11's.

Oh boy, Hey Beef, we should send some of these Lightning boys over to the corral for a knowledge session....LOL....I like my truck and its nice and fast to drive every day, but no way in hell is it a Cobra, plain and simple, especially insane modified ones like ours!!!

Any way, all 96-99 Cobra Procharger kits are intercooled...The base kit, the 6lbs kit with the 2 core intercooler will still lay down 400rwhp with no problems....The 10lbs 3 core intercooler kit will lay down anywhere from 415rwhp to 475rwhp depending on other mods...
Brian Bradford does NOT have the fastest stock block cobra, he isn't even close...Tim Matherly from MV performance is one, as well as Lidio and Beefcake's FAV, Ben Dorn!!! LOL, had to throw that at ya terry
Ben Dorn has been 10.25@134mph on his STOCK longblock 98 Cobra...Pauls' 98 Cobra has Fr500 heads with prototype cams and intake and a 5.0 spray bore block from Ford....The car only runs 11.20's with all that, if not slower.....Ian's car can run 11.90's no problem with him driving, I've seen it go 12.00's with no problem in bad air and alot of weight in the car....

If you read my post ,I said a procharger with an intercooler will produce around 415 rwhp I doubt if those numbers apply to a 99 Cobra. Even with a 55 % increase with the base 6# kit, your looking at 395H.P. properly tuned.( I've seen S/C 99's average 375 h.p. on 2 local 150 dyno's with basic bolt-ons) Most lightnings on THIS website are around 400 rwhp.Which puts it"on par" with this 99 cobra he was racing. If it were your typical N/A 99 Cobra, the L would have ate it up. (my 98 with bolt-ons,3.73 gear and dynotuned has stayed even with more than one 99 S/C and I have lost to my own 01 Lightning with my buddy driving it.My L has done 12.87 in the quarter and I know it will beat 95% of the Cobras out there. You have that small 5% of real fast "street" car. I still say this 99 was a S/c car. Like I said most trucks on this websight are around 400 H.P. or MORE.Maybe you should hang out here more for a "knowledge lesson." (still friends?)

lol we're all buddies,
i still don't believe that the same HP cobra's and lightnings are equal at highway speeds, cobra's are lighter and they pull harder on the big end, they will have the advantage there all things being equal (hp wise)

Let us not forget even though the L is 400HP monster with mad torque. The Cobra is alot lighter than the L so par for par if they were both making the same HP say 400, and the L was making more tq by about 20ft/lbs. With that 4800lb curb weight and flat front end wind resistance says the cobra should be faster
Stock for Stock I would say in the 1/4 the L would usually win though. GOT HOOK?
Mike

Mike
stock for stock in the 1/4 they are about even, driver will have more to do than anything as the 5 speed will take more finesse out of the hole,
but, like i said, highway speeds, stock to stock, the cobra should win
but, like i said, highway speeds, stock to stock, the cobra should win
Mondo----First off, a Cobra with 3.73 gears is a WASTE of time.....Secondly, since you are the "Supercharged 99 cobra expert", how did I put down 410rwhp and 385rwtq on the base ATI kit with just gears and an xpipe, nothing else???? Hmmm, guess I was wrong....By the way, I ran a 12.55@114mph with that combo on 18" G force street tires and a 1.98 60 foot and the stock T45.....Hmmm, whose faster now???
I'll take any N/A cobra, ESPECIALLY the 99 and 01's against a Lightning on the highway any day....I guess you forget I HAVE a 01 Lightning and the 99 Cobra....The lightning is a nice truck, but its SLOWWW in my opinion....But I like driving it every day , the torque is nice, but when I hit it at 60mph on the highway, it doesn't move....A N/A cobra with 4.30's or 4.56's and bolt ons will do at the least 12.50's at 109mph no problem....By the way, check the weights of our trucks, almost 4900lbs....So with 400rwhp on the MODIFIED trucks, its still over 1500lbs more than a Cobra would be with close to 300rwhp and just bolt ons....Hmm 400rwhp on a 3400lbs car or 400whp on a 4900lbs truck???
No offense dude, but me and Terry (Beefcake) have Forgotten more about the MOd motors and making them fast than 99% of the Lightning people.....Like why the rods go in the 5.4 motors once you spin them up to 6K....The long stroke and poor rod ratio kills this motor, poor design flaw by Ford, long stroke, small Bore....
Yeah, we are still friends, but in terms of knowledge, I know all there is to know about both vehicles....

Its actually a 6400 Stall

I can drive it down the street with the 4.30's to the grocery store

Never claimed to be the "99 Cobra expert. I was stating that the car that BMWbig 6 raced is most likely S/Charged.BTW, most dynos have as much variance up to 25 h.p. from machine to machine. The only real way to measure it is with a "low inertia" dyno..if you know what that is. With resistance on the rollers, it forces the engine to "work" on the rotating mass, thus measuring the engines "real" h.p. and not other variables, like tire pressure, etc. Yes I also know that a 3.73 gear is not the optimum gear for the high revving twin cammer.(it was the gear already in my car and with the autologic chip, powertube, K/n and aluminum drive shaft, it riuns great. Its my pleasure car and I wouldn't change it for anything. I also do own a 90 trunk with a 347 stroker and a nice T-trim with twisted wedge heads and a few other "enchancements" it runs mid 10's. Has more in it (still needs more tuning) >Add a 95 white slightly modded L, an 01 L (the "slow" one, to quote you, and you can see that I am what most would call a motorhead.I love Fords and the whole purpose of this is to let you know that I have been building all sorts of performance cars for over 25 years now and just because I haven't been on the Corral or Stangnet,Mustangworld or any other stang website for a while doesn't meen I don't know a thing or 2 .I still say an 01 L would cream a stock or slightly modified Cobra (mostly the slow 99) and the one he raced WAS s/charged.I wish BMWbig6 meets up with him again to see his engine.Until then don't ever call L's slow..please!!!
