Well as it turns out, with a few more miles, it's not perfect, but it is FAR better. The one thing they never mentioned is the lowering shackles.

I am going to reinstall the factory shackles and see what's what. Here's my theory: When the truck is cool, the shackles put the pinion angle at an undesireable angle, but just on the edge. Bumps make it jump in and out of a bad spot. When it gets hot out, the rear springs sag just enough to put the pinion angle in a vibration spot.

What do you think? I've had these specific shackles on both of my trucks. (AIM by the way). I would say I've had this vibration since day one, but I've had the shackles installed since day 2. They are the only things I haven't changed back to stock.

But believe me, the dealership did do something to my truck. What I've got now is liveable. Before, it was a disaster.

BTW, thanks for the interest on this one from everybody.

geez, so you've never told us about the shackles?

Here are the symptons and then I'll list what we've tried:

-When I first got the truck I had the exhaust shake that was solved with exhaust dampeners.
-There still seemed to be a mild vibration at about 65 mph. Thought it might be the factory tonneau - removed it - vibration still there.
No wonder, your pinion angle was to hell and back.
See, you made it seem as if it was when you drove off the floor like this. But your vibrations didn't come along until the shackles, right? Not critisizing you at all, but now most of us w/ the 90mph vibes on our '01s aren't going to get any help from this. I'm beginning to think more and more now that the 90mph vibes is exhaust. Do you even have this vibe we speak of?

Well excuse me BfB!!

Actually I think there are a few people who might learn something from this. How about you, so far? Plan on putting shackles on anytime soon? You didn't happen to read my signature did you. That's what it's for.

If you had any brains, you would do a search about your 90 MPH vibration and discover that it was ME who discovered (actually my dealership!) the 90MPH vibration fix. I had that solved before I even took delivery of my '01.

I guess I'll just keep my findings to myself in the future. Than I won't upset the apple cart when all we're trying to do is fix these damn trucks.

There's been some good discussion around this topic outside the Lightning forum. Might want to check out the following thread if you haven't already. Vibration Thread.

I'm not going to make this into a pissing contest like you're trying to now. You mistook my post and you read too much into it. I said I wasn't critisizing you. That's all it should have took for you to realize you didn't have to reply back to me like this.

And, no, I didn't read your sig. I am sorry. Normally, one would point out what they "think" could be causing it beforehand and not make others try and figure it out for them w/out all the guidelines being placed in front of them.

If you had any brains, you would do a search about your 90 MPH vibration and discover that it was ME who discovered (actually my dealership!) the 90MPH vibration fix. I had that solved before I even took delivery of my '01.
I assume you are saying that to others as well...in the likes of Sal as well? He made an earlier post regarding this but never mentioned that his was fixed either. Hey, Sal (and many others), he's saying you don't have any brains either. Look, you need to just quit being so damn plain mean.

My suggestion to you is to cheer up and quit being so critical against me or others who you think are yacking against you. I wasn't.

Now take back what you said! It hurt my feelings

LoL,

BfB

P.s. I'm going to do a search on your name for that 90mph fix. I now figured after what Sal said earlier in this very thread that you would have mentioned to him that you had already solved that problem too. My bad.

Not trying to **** in anybody's Corn Flakes. Just a bit emotional about a truck that has pissed me off two years in a row.

Peace!
