Thumbs up Vibration is gone/Smooth at 90 mph

Well I finally got rid of the vibration at 90mph. The dealer equalized the exhaust and put the counter weights What04 told me about. That helped a little bit but was still there.

Today I put the Magnaflow Stainless steel muffler on, and no more vibration. It is smooth as silk at all speeds, and wow what a sound. This is how the lightning should sound.

Here are some pics

if you look close you can see the weights infront of the muffler.

Awesome. Can't wait. I tried to order one yesterday, but my supplier's supplier is on back order.

That is a 14568, correct?

Yes it is a 14568. A few things I noticed it is loader than the stock muffler, but not that much. It seems to coast better, or less engine braking when you let off the gas. I have only drivin about 20 miles on it, and feels just as powerfull, maybee a little quicker with the new muffler.

Also I updated my signature

Thumbs up

Hey Don, Looks good! Is it available unpolished as well? Would love to hear it, am thinking about improving sound but have to live with it for daily commute. Any chance of getting together over the w/e? Maybe go for a breakfast run? Any other Boston area L's?

mol428cj and BOSTONL

I had it installed at Lou's Custom Exhaust in N Reading. They have done a few systems for me, they are good guys.

It is available in alluminized steel, the stainless is only pollished like mine.

I am allready to hit NE Dragway. Mine is all broken in just hit 3000 miles today.
Maybee if the weather is good we can get a few L's together in the next week or two.

Don C....."The dealer equalized the exhaust" What did they do to equalize it?
I just picked up my 2001 and have the same vibration abouve 90. I only went that high a couple of times and it always did it. Wasn't sure what it was.

Thanks

From what I understand they got the exhaust warm then loosened the clamps and ran it again. then they tightened it all back up.

Then they put some counter weights on, that What04 told me about.

What really helped get rid of the vibration was when I put the Magnaflow muffler on. To me it felt like at a certain rpm range the exhaust pulses inside the stock muffler cause the vibration.

And I just ordered my Magnaflow 14568 today from Don C's other post. $129.00 and shipped sameday via UPS. Love the internet.

All the dealers here in Canada said they were on backorder.

Can't wait for the final fix. (And sound!!)
