Talking Gauges

I am going to order the Lo-Tek gauge pod and need to know what size guages i can put in the pod. I am going with the Phantom gauges from Auto Meter. I assume I need to get electrical and not mechanical gauges? Any part #'s on the guages would be a great help.

2-1/16" gauges. You pick how much work you want to do to decide if you want mechanical or electrical gauges.

2 1/16" is right As far as electical or mechanical, I am going with mechanical for the boost gauge because you can just splice it in with your present mech boost hose for your stock gauge, the others will be electical.

Have the fitting problems with the LoTek pod been fixed yet? I've heard they are slightly shorter than the factory A-pillar.

The Lo-Tek 3 gauge pod I got a few weeks ago is about as close as I'd expect an aftermarket part such as this to fit right out of the box. The top fits perfectly flush against my headliner, but the bottom part has to be filed/ground down a bit for it to sit flush with the rest of the dash (but seems to be the right length). When I finally get around to installing my mech IC temp gauge in the lower pod, I'll file the bottom of the pod down and throw a screw in to hold it there, and then only myself and anyone who's read this post will now the better. The one thing I was a bit disappointed with was where they chose to pre-drill the upper mounting hole in my pod (because no matter how you far you slid the pod up or down, the self tapping screw they gave you could not find metal to dig into (it happened to line up with the rectangular hole where the stock one "clips" into)). I drilled my own hole about 1-1/4 above it and it fits fine now, and eventually I'll just order some more of those painted screw caps they give you to cover the extra hole(s) up.

As was said before, buy the mechanical boost gauge...its super easy to hook up. And like WHAT04 said, the electrical Air/Fuel ratio gauge is pretty much useless (it seems to give good readings at WOT though...which is when you'd want to know whats going on anyways i'd think), but it definitely grabs your eye...and the attention of others. As stupid as it sounds, picture that light on the front of Knight Rider, but one that lights up three different colors depending on the ratio (red = lean, yellow = stoichiometric, green = rich). If you're doing them for the "wow" factor as opposed to wanting to monitor all of your L's vitals...my friend was more impressed with this one than he was with the Boost gauge that fades with my factory gauges.

I also ordered a Lo-Tek 3 gauge pod a few weeks ago and I would have to say that I was not terribly impressed with the fit. I end up with a 1/4" gap on both top and bottom or 1/2" on the bottom if I snug it against the headliner. I did call Lo-Tek and they seem to think that I may have gotten a bad one (old inventory sneaking in with their new stuff?) so I am going to return it to them for an exchange. I also have the Auto-Meter 3 gauge pod on order and it is scheduled to be shipped to me on 8/9 according to Summit. If you can wait a week or so I'll be more than happy to let you know how the Auto-Meter fits.
