Jerry - I was refering to that fact that if person A posts something, person B feels the need to attack, defend, etc. Theres been alot of it here. It doesn't necissarily mean everyone in this thread or this thread alone. What it means is this board has been through numerous Tuner wars. The fighting, arguing, flaming, defending are mostly by the supporters. You can't mention one Tuner without another tuner coming up in the discussion.

It's clear to me that the only way to settle this is a Thumb War. Win 2 out of 3 and you become Ubertuner.

That statement Silver 2000 is BS. Plain an simple, I as an enthusiast made a website which I will not mention. And I was told I could not link my Personal Page on here. So enthusiasts aren't welcome either link wise.

Wow this is one long post. I just thought I would share a little information regarding machine shops. My entire family works in our own machine shop. We have numerous CNC lathes and mills in addition to a large variety of conventional equipment. It is a very expensive and unforgiving business. Every once in a while someone will approach us regarding some custom part that they would like to make. It usualy does not work out. The quantity of parts is to small to justify the planning, programing, set-up, first article, adjustments, SPC, in process inspection ect., ect., ect..

We are also shy about investing our money into a project for someone we do not know. I can see where doing a pre-order on the part would be the way to go from a tuner standpoint. However, this should be disclosed upfront to the customer (i.e.Lightning Owner).

The machined parts discussed on this board are not that difficult for a quality machine shop to make. I will say that just like any other business the range of skill and execution is all over the map. You have to know what you are doing when selecting a shop. It is critical that you know the skill and dedication of the people you are dealing with. Making a mistake here is expensive and time consuming. Just my 2 cents.

REDHOTL,

That was what I was trying to say from the get go, just in a different situation. I was not trying to interperet a tuner favorite and when it was brought up, I had to defend myself, so on and so forth. I am glad one person who has replyed to this thread understands where I am coming from.

We rented out a small circle track a couple years back for a dirk track T&T and trophy race. The track CEO told us that we had to have a minimum of 50 cars willing to pay and participate before they would let us have the track for the day. The same thing is done for making custom made equipment or parts. A HUGE company like FOMOCO knows they will get somekind of profit when making vehicles. That is like comparing apples to oranges.
That is not the same thing. Using your logic I'll take the money from 49 of you then cancel the event. Then hold your money till I get around to attempting another event. If I don't get 49 the next outing I'll cancel and keep your money a while longer. Using your customers to R and D a product is a bad business practice. That's what profit is for. If you have to R and D with your customers money you have no business selling the product. Customers are not venture capitalists.

The money for the ("now being made locally so I can watch it, shipped on a truck, I have the pro number, shipping next week, shipping next Tuesday") JDM pulleys, should have been returned long ago without anyone needed to request the refund or call anyone. It's bad business period, and is not justifiable.

People have over reacted to this thread because they are frustrated by the way JDM has handled the delivery of his pulley. Just look at the number of views to any thread about this topic on this board or at SVT Peformance. All of this could have been avoided if it had been handled properly. You refund the money, with an apology. When you have the product in a box ready for a shipping label, you announce it, sell it, and UPS it out the door.
