JDM Lower pulley install...01 only

Taking orders from people and their information is one thing. That way you can have a count to see if you have enough of people to place an order. But charging someone that day when they place the order when you know that what they ordered wont be ready for shipping for a while is just bad businss period.

badazz,
What i described is what I see when I order custom stuff. They want to know if the money is there before they make it. Some even want 1/2 or 3/4 of the money up front which would constitute charging right away.I am not to familiar with what procedure JDM used but that is what I experience. I justify his actions because I think we can all benefit from JDMs, PSPs, and JLs hard work to make us go fast. It is easy for people to start saying that I take on one side of the tuner spectrum, but, in all reality I haven't really been shopping around with anyone else and cost is not an option. I hope that when we have the next L get togethter there won't be any high school like groups forming with he/shes favorite tuner. I feel a part of a brotherhood/connection with everyone here with an L. I just do not want to see any sides be chosen over go-fast goodies. I think it really makes things hard when it comes time to get together. I am sure I will meet you one day and everybody on this board. I want to hit a lot of tracks in the next year. I am also glad that we can discuss this and not make *****ty comments(other posts on this thread). Seeing both sides is important to me.

Normally I would say get this back on topic .... But the topic of the post appears to be advertising a service to the readers of F150 Online. The information and debate is GREAT.
The advertising is a problem.
JJ's Whitelight - The guidelines here are pretty clear. Please send Steve and email to get info about becoming a supporting vendor before posting any more threads that could be viewed as an ad.
Thanks
Doug
PS - I am not going to close the thread yet .... But my gut tells me it is sliding downhill.....

I do not think that this should be viewed as an ad for any type of service.
I have no idea why you think it is.. There have been plenty of threads that have links in them to products, services, procedures and such, so wouldnt you consider that advertising??
By me offering to install these pullies in the MD area I am only trying to help those that dont want to go to NJ to get it done, and I dont own my shop, so I have to charge something.
Sorry if it sounded like an ad...

General business practice is understood by most through normal day to day commerce, without personally operating a business of their own. Customer service and satisfaction is the key to keeping a business alive. You don't take a customers money before you give them the product or service, unless otherwise stated PERIOD. If you do, most of your customers will go elsewhere. This incident is a perfect example.
Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me.
Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me.
I can't believe people are still waiting for these pulleys. I enjoy reading this board several times a day and I read and enjoy everyones post. I just don't understand why the JDM users think they have to defend JDM. All of my aftermarket parts have come from PSP, but you won't find me defending Sal every time someone is unhappy with his service! If PSP screws up, I hope someone gets in their ***! I am sure that JDM products are very good (there is no doubt about this with some of the times his customers are running) and that Jim is a good guy to deal with, but the fact remains that there have been many lies told by JDM about these pulleys. How many times can you say something is shipping and then not ship it? I own a precision sheet metel shop and deal with machine shops every day. This pulley is not rocket science. I know of at least 10 machine shops in the Austin area that could build these pulleys in three to four weeks! Also the only time we or the machine shops require some sort of payment up front is if the customer has bad, or no credit.

99svtlightning,
You are right about everyday commerce, but I can see that we are gonna be chasing our tails on this subject.
Supporting companies that do contract work for FOMOCO don't have to worry about not getting there money because a company like ford has the overhead to get the job done. Smaller companies do not have this luxury. I have played this game before with contracted shops for custom or new part orders. I had to charge 1/2 of the people full price which includes the profit margin so the company would start production on my product. I am just letting everyone know about why they were charged the day you ordered and didn't get any word for months, like I said, I am not aware of JDMs situation they had with shops and deals. This is the way MY prototype business worked. My father and I were in the custom accessories business, like dash covers and floor mats. We are not in that business for one reason. Didn't make any money!!
Like I said in my previous post I understand why people would be mad and I am not clear on JDMs situation but these are my experiences with bulk custom orders.

When you have a new product out and you want to stir attention to that product you have to take orders and money to make it happen. Machine shops and anyone who is making something in bulk wants to know if the money is there to make the parts because the machine shop is not going to take a loss on the materials and time, that is why you were charged right away.

Thats bull I just ordered a billet Ford Plate for under my hood thats is being made custom from BilletandAcrylic.com and they told me it will take about 2 weeks to make and when its ready they will call me and let me know when to send the check. Also when I called the place to see about the custom lightning mats for our trucks they told me the same took my info and told me would call me when to send the check. So like Jerry Jordan said why do all the JDM customers feel like they have to defend him.

You are right about that badazz, but It is the same with PSP and JL customers too. I feel that I have defend him because he doesn't post on this board for this reason. I have meet him and watched him at the FFW events work on all our trucks and not race himself. I think that is total dedication!! I try to justify things that I think needs to be justified. I just don't want people to single him out for the pulley situation, ***** happens. As far as the parts you ordered, I thinks thats cool that they will tell you when it is done, I never saw that with what I did. Towards the the end of my biz I had to front the money because people were getting pissed about the waiting.
I hope everyone sees my point on this. I am looking for total unity among tuners and L owners, but I don't think that will ever happen, because there are always people who think one person does better at this or at that.
Badazz, not to get off the subject but what is the phone # for the guy who makes the lightning mats? I want a set.

How can me telling people that I will install there pullies for 60 bucks at my shop as long as they leave the truck with me for atleast a 1/2 day be considered advertising?? I have never even given out the name of my shop.....
Just to get back on topic for a minute.. I am very, very happy with my lower pulley and I think it is one of the best mods I have done so far.... No matter who you get yours from or what mod you do to your Lightning, I hope you all are aware of the fact that we all own one fast *** truck and we all get the same smile on our faces when we drive them, or race them. All I am asking is that we all try to give eachother the benefit of the doubt when we post something that has or has not worked for us....... Just like waxes, you might like Turtle wax, and I might like Quickshine99, but it doesnt mean we gotta scrap about it... speaking of Quickshine, HEY JULIE!!!!! I need my towel back!!!!!
See yall later... JJ

It's pretty ironic that the Lightning Tuners are the ones that are the most civil and the supporters are the ones that don't know how to act right.

The difference is that I have NEVER promoted my site here as a place to BUY ANYTHING - EVER. I have NEVER referred any one to my site to buy anything. And I am NOT making ANY money from the links I have posted. I had hoped to get a free set of tips from the link but since you raised the issue I removed the Links from my site.
Here is the operative quote from Steve
"The bottom line is likely this - if you are here to simply take advantage of the F150online Community to further your financial goals and you do not wish to give something back to the operator of the site, you are likely not welcome here. If you are here as a Ford truck enthusiast, you are more than welcome. "
I have no goals of financial gain from this site. I have been contributing for more than 18 months and have contributed countless hours to benefit of this site. I am sure Steve has seen my site. If he had an issue with it he would have mentioned it.
Since neither you NOR JDM have chosen to support the site it is appropriate to monitor any attempts at free advertising for both you and JDM.

Thanks for clearing that up Doug.. And trust me, If I started getting an assload of buisness working on and installing parts and performance mods on F150's or Lightning's you guys would be the first to know it.. I would definitly become a supporting vendor, but I dont think it will get like that.. I was only offering to install pullies for those not wanting to go to NJ.. Thanks again.. JJ
P.S.. anyone can E-mail me to get my shops location and any FREE advice on this install... (is that ok??)....
