Guys, if you wanna play, you gotta pay.

It sounds like the cop did his job well. He nailed you despite your radar detector and caught you fair and square, on video and everything.

You probably learned something, too. I don't want to sound like a preacher, but I got similar schooling about 30 years ago. That's why I race at the drag strip and have never had my L over 90 on a public road.

Definitely get a lawyer and have him negotiate. The courts seem very willing to exchange points for money.

LeanNCut, That was NOT funny. I hope you use your Glock on yourself before you use it on someone else.

I as was told, "I got this gun and I got this badge, and I can do anything I want!"
Remeber this, If you begin to lie, you'll have to continue lieing to cover the 1st lie ans so on....SO keep your story simple. I would ask the officer in court, if we were going that fast (110mph) which is obviously causing a hazardous situation to the general public, why did you let it go on for 10 miles, isn't that public endangerment by a police officer?

I can't believe I'm telling this to anyone, but......GET A LAWYER!

The next time you get pulled over, try one of these...

Cop says: Your eyes look red, have you been drinking?
You say: Your eyes look glazed, you been eating donuts?
Or some of these...

Damn it, you made me spill my beer!

Honestly sir, I was trying to open my bag
of crack when my gun fell and jammed the
accelerator down.

Got change for a hundred?

Hey I know you, can I have your autograph?

Darn, I thought that I was heading AWAY
from Dunkin doughnuts.

Not again!

Whatever it was I didn't do it.

Sorry I was speeding, your wife said to
hurry on over!

You aren't going to look in the trunk
are you?

Uh, could you hold my beer while I get my
license?

Jeez officer, you must have really been
flyin' to catch me!

Bad Cop, No Donut!

Hi there Barney! How's Mayberry, Opie
and Andy?

You call THAT a handgun? Check THIS out...

Make this fast, I've got to get the beer
back to the party before it gets warm.

Later,
Roger

Get a lawyer!!! Usually they can get at least half of the charges dropped. In the long run you will be better of by taking it to court, because you could get another ticket tomorrow just for daydreaming, and then you are really screwed. The bottom line is that its going to cost ya, and by the time your court date comes up you will feel a lot better about the whole situation. Always take tickets to court!!!! Its not that I don't believe that you shouldn't pay for your crime, its that I don't believe people should profit off of your mistake. (aka insurance company skum!!!)

Well, if its like Houston, all tickets go to traffic court. Go there and you will find one or two attorneys handling most of the cases where people have attorneys. Use one of these guys because they have the ins with the judges. Judges for this position, in Texas, are elected and these attorneys give heavily to their campaign funds. These are the guys you want to use, not some yoho with no stroke at court.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I would definately ask the cop in court why he let you guys drive like that for that many miles if it was dangerous.

If it ever happens again why don't you try this one:

A police officer pulls a guy over for speeding and has the following exchange:

Officer: May I see your driver's license?
Driver: I don't have one. I had it suspended when I got my 5th DUI.

Officer: May I see the owner's card for this vehicle?
Driver: It's not my car. I stole it.
Officer: The car is stolen?
Driver: That's right. But come to think of it, I think I saw the owner's card in the glove box when I was putting my gun in there.
Officer: There's a gun in the glove box?
Driver: Yes sir. That's where I put it after I shot and killed the woman who owns this car and stuffed her in the trunk.
Officer: There's a BODY in the TRUNK?!?!?
Driver: Yes, sir.

Hearing this, the officer immediately called his captain. The car was quickly surrounded by police, and the captain approached the driver to handle the tense situation:

Captain: Sir, can I see your license?
Driver: Sure. Here it is.
It was valid.
Captain: Who's car is this?
Driver: It's mine, officer. Here's the owner' card.
The driver owned the car.
Captain: Could you slowly open your glove box so I can see if there's a gun in it?
Driver: Yes, sir, but there's no gun in it.
Sure enough, there was nothing in the glove box.
Captain: Would you mind opening your trunk? I wastold you said there's a body in it.
Driver: No problem.
Trunk is opened; no body.
Captain: I don't understand it. The officer who stopped you said you told him you didn't have a license, stole thecar, had a gun in the glove box, and that there was a dead body in the trunk.

Driver: Yeah, I'll bet the lying s.o.b. told you I was speeding, too

i've been told that "pacing" as you are calling it, also referred to as "clocking" where the cop follows you from a distance and guages your speed on his speedomoeter is actually more reliable than the radar gun.

good luck in court.

There is nothing more that I enjoy than pulling a smart *** over.
Your attitude will have a great degree of impact on whether or not you get cited and how many extras you can get.
On any one stop, 9 x' out of 10 there are going to be multiple violations. And DWI's wonderful, I took a nice checker-auto manager downtown last night. His wife and kids unfortunately had to witness this simply because he failed to think like a responsible parent/father.
I also happened upon this nice MVA, car VS 2 semi trucks. He was racing, didn't correct enough on a lane change, hit one, bounced hit the other, back again to the first and was drug under the trailer. Bleeding profusely from the head, EMS was simply window dressing.........
Plenty of people race, but.
Don't drink and drive....
If you just have to race on a public road do so on an open one, so if you do crash you don't take anyone with you.

BTW, I know of one sherrif that proped an
M-14 across the top of his hood to slow down some folks that didn't want to stop of the OK highway patrol.
He asked why they stoped for him they replied, "We knew you'd shoot."
The sheriff replied, "yeah, I was."

I'm sorry but i'll tell ya your screwed. I've been through traffic court many times for everything, Stunting, speeding, driving with undue care for others. Everything. Even 5 tickets at once. The best is get a good lawyer and settle with the courts. Plead guilty to speeding with no didductions in points of you license and just ask for a cash fined. Usally this works or just accept it. In Canada i would recomend using this procedures, i don't really know how it works in the states. Most just want to get it over with. I was able to keep a case dragging in court for over a year and half, by the time it finally got into court, they justwanted to end it. I walked out with only one charge out of 5. Good Luck, I have my next date in court on June 7, I'm ****ed. I got stunting (racing) for my 3 time. Probobly gonna be shipped away to some mexican jail and never allowed behind a wheel again.

On a serious note, what these guys said. Get a lawyer. I know, I hate to depend on them too, but if this can be softened, they'll know how!

If you haven't gon to jail by now, you probably won't. Advice, get a lawyer! You are going to have to pay either way. The laywer will charge you by the hour, but can get things reduced. If these weren't so serious, you could probably do it your self by dragging out the scheduling/trial process.

You probably have at least one misdemeanor in the "racing" ticket. Here in CA, "speed contest" as it is called is no longer an infraction, so it carries some stiff $$$.

Good Luck!
