Hey all,

Just a quick question: How much boost should a 2001 Lightning be making stock? My 2001 L (bone stock) seems to make about 8 lbs., and the manual says it should make 8 lbs., so everything seems on par. I'm just curious if others are making more boost than that stock.

My GAUGE shows over 10, but who can trust it? My 01 still seems a bit pokey, besides.

Some make the 8 but you can increase it to 10 easily...

Just picked up my 01. Shows 8lbs. My 00 showed over 10. Don't know if it is guage or not.

 

My 01 showed 10 pounds stock but after install of throttle body,filter kit and pulley it now is deep into the black!

 

Mine makes 10# stock, but the dash gauge lies like a politician before an election...

 

Don't trust the guage they are only good for telling you if the truck is making boost.

I had my truck data logged last week. My guage will only show 8 lbs, but Jims equipement shows that I am making 10 lbs.

The only guage that is halfway accurateis the fuel guage, the others are just idiot lights that look like guages.

Stock motors are boost limited by the intake system. MY 01' stock would only reach above 8-10 lbs at 4500rpm plus. After I intalled the "Ghetto Ram" it would peak over 10 at 3500 RPM and stay there the whole time.

Your boost will vary depending upon air temperature and density. My truck will make about 10.5 lbs at sea level, but only 8 lbs at 3000' altitude.

My 01 made 8 stock and with a K&N rplacement filter and a Diablo Chip. I did the Boost Actuator mod and it makes 10 in 1st & 2nd and 10.5 or so in 3rd & 4th. It definitely feels stronger.
