Question OK fellas... a question.

When I bought my 2001 L at the dealership there was a hard sell to get me to buy the extended warrenty. One of the features I was told that the warranty would guarantee me a loaner vehicle whenever my L was in the shop for an extended time. The dealership does not provide loaners anymore (supposedly for insurance reasons) and hasn't for a number of years.

Well... guess what I just read? While having my L serviced the other day I started walking through the dealership and looking for something good to read when I ran across the SVT Enthusiast Magazine(Vol 3 Issue 3). Here is what I read in a paragraph on page 3...

"SVT Premium Service means that all buyers or lessees of 2001 SVT vehicles will be eligible for a guaranteed service 'loaner' vehicle whenever their vehicle is left at the dealer for service and/or repair (excluding oil changes). 2001 SVT owners will pick up their vehicles from service washed and vacuumed."

Has anyone else seen this or are aware of this program? I feel I paid for this service by buying the SVT Lightning and nobody at the dealership seems aware of it.

This is an excerpt from the same mag (vol4 issue 1).....

".... To further enhance the dealership experience, this year we are rolling out a program called "SVT Premium Service" for buyers and lessees of 2001 SVT Products"

"SVT Premium Service means that SVT owners are entitled to a guaranteed service loaner when their vehichles are at a Ford dealership for service. all their vehicles will be returned to them washed and vacuumed (unless requested not to do so)."

"SVT Premium Service is in effect throughout the warranty period. We are pleased to be able to offer this benefit to all owners and lessees of 2001 SVT Vehicles."

Comments... Feedback??

Hmm... It'd be nice to have that in writing. You say it's volume what and what and where to get..?

It is in SVT Enthusiast magazine. The only place I've seen this mag is in the dealer showrooms but I imagine they could be subscribed to as well. It is made by the Ford SVT Team. The Volumes were 4 - issue 1 and 3- isuue 3.

It is definitely in Writing....

I have read that also but have not had to take mine in for any work. Sounds like more trainning is needed so dealerships know how to take care of their SVT customers. I'm sure one call at the dealership to corporate Ford would get a loaner for you.

Thats funny, they would promise you a loaner vehicle, should you need it.

IT GOT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY (7 YEAR/100K MILE AND THE 50K MILE SERVICE PACKAGE), AND NOW I WANT TO CAPITALIZE (TAKE THEM UP ON THEIR DEAL), AND THEY WONT GIVE ME A LOANER VEHICLE. YOU SEE, I HAVE THIS LEAKING INTERCOOLER...

THEY SAID:

"Your extended warranty will put $28 a day towards a rental car for 5 days max

AND THEY WONT ORDER THE INTERCOOLER PARTS UNTIL THEY TEAR APART MY TRUCK. IT DOESN'T HELP THAT THE INTERCOOLER PARTS ARE ON NATIONAL BACKORDER AND THEY HAVE NO FREAKIN CLUE WHEN THEY WILL GET PARTS

But they did say they'd warranty my engine regardless, but I wonder how far I can throw that one...

Dealers are butt heads. I took mine there to have them put my Snug Lid from my trade in on to my L. Well I didnt get back there for two days and the Lid was rather dirty. You think they would have washed it after putting it on a very clean truck......Hell No!
Next time I go back there I hope they have all there doors open so when i do a sixty second burnout in the parking lot they get to smell that rubber for an hour. That ought to help sales!

Saw.

Tundra,

BTDT. Oh, and they scratched the crap out of my bumper too (Tales of Cooter/Gomer thread back in September 2k)

I didn't pay a frigin dime and wasn't about to either.

Time to have a chat with the Service Manager about this brain fart then take it up the Chain o Command.

Getting ready for round 2 of this. maybe I'll get my bumper repainted too..

My dealer wasn't aware of the free loaner car either untill I made them aware of it. They called SVT and that took care of it, now I have no problem getting a free loaner car if I have to bring it to the shop.

After our last talk, I said I wanted the Regional Reps phone number.

Beleive it or not, they had no idea who I was talking about, but they new of the service head honcho. I told them no BS, I want the top dog. I got the service manager. I told him my story and he said his hands were tied, but if my engine blew, they'd warranty it, but I'd be up a dry creek with a car.

THEN I told them about asking them to fix it last December, WHEN THEY GAVE ME A LOANER CAR. IN WHICH THEY SAID I DIDNT HAVE A LEAK.

COME MONDAY MORNING, I AM HEAD HUNTING

I am sick if this bull****.

BTW, Everyone,

I am young, have nothing to do, and I have access to $$$. Anyone know what that means? I am ready to play the court room ball. Except I need a supporting cast.

I saw the same SVT magazine report and called to see if the FREE LOANER was for all years or just 2001 as the article seemed to say. Guess what, proud Lightning owners!, the FREE LOANER is just for 2001 and up vehicles. If you have anything else but that, the deal is what you negotiate on your own.

AA_Expert: I just had my '01 serviced by my dealer this week and had to ask them for my loaner. The senior manager JUST completed some SVT training seminar and he was aware of it (only recently though). The first service person had no clue; the body shop person (had an airdam scratch they were going to paint) had no clue about the loaner either. However, my service advisor was very professional and did make the effort to find out if I was due a loaner, and they did give me one for 3 days. I think as time goes on most SVT dealers will be aware of the loaner program.

You are correct in reading no loaner for a standard oil change. My truck did get washed and vacummed when I picked it up.

WILD WILL: very interesting point; I didn't realize it was for '01 SVT vehicles only. Kind of sucks since I have a '94 SVT mustang as well. However, the model year might get overlooked since so few service advisors are still not yet familiar with this program. Stressing that your vehicle is an SVT might do the trick anyways.

The info about the free loaner is also in the fine print on the side of the Spec. sheet that you can get with the Lightning brochure (sp?). So if ya can't find the SVT Enthusiast in the showroom, you should be able to get a spec. sheet (the color one) and show them in the fine print about the free loaner.

Later,

Thumbs up

I've had my 2001 L in for warranty service one time. I called my salesman prior to bringing it in & told him to line up my loaner. When I arrived he took me about a 1/2 mile to a rental company where it was all set-up. I didn't mention the SVT policy to him & he never questioned my getting a loaner.
