You'd be surprised at how long a stock bottom-end LS1 will last when the nitrous setup is properly tuned. Sean Freese at FASTech in Garland, TX has run a 10.30 @ 130 MPH with a stock LS1 bottom-end, stock 4L60E transmission, and stock 7.5" 10-bolt rearend with the factory-installed 3.23:1 gears! He's running a dual stage Nitrous Express wet kit, and he has it set PIG rich. The NX kits are set rich anyways, and he also put 28# injectors in his '99 (26# injectors stock). Each stage adds 150 HP at the flywheel. He launches on the 1st stage and grabs the 2nd about 30'-40' out. The heads are mildly ported, and he's running an aftermarket camshaft. The car will consistently dyno 345-350 RWHP N/A. The heads are his major limiting factor. With a nice set of stage II heads and the LS6 intake manifold, he'd easily make 410+ RWHP. As a matter of fact, he is currently at Houston Raceway Park trying to set a new best. 9's w/ a stock bottom-end would be a major feat!

Wink

Sean, is very lucky to have purchased a properly staged nitrous set-up for $600.

Cool

LOL I was just talking about the stock bottom-end. He is selling his dual stage setup complete for $1,700. That's just the complete nitrous setup (6 solenoids, dual purge, etc.). Needless to say, he has more than $600 in mods.

But we all know that the trans and rearend will not last very long with 10-sec power. Trevor...has Sean _never_ even rebuilt his stock trans? I'm surprised.

However, the A4 is the way to go IMHO with those cars if you want a straight-line terror.

Sorry GTP, but you might want to reign in those high expectations.

Like Trevor, I am also an LS1.COM member, and I currently own a 1999 30th Anniversary WS-6 Trans Am (#1348) with Borla cat-back, Whisper Air Lid, K&N, Ported MAF, B&M Ripper shifter, and Nitto 555R Drag Radials (about $1500 of mods and labor). I ordered the car new, loved and babied it for the past 2 years, and it ran a best of 13.49 @ 105.6 mph at the track. Best and most fun car I've ever owned. The 2001s are rated at about 5 or 10 more HP than the 1999s, but don't go expecting 12s out of the box. Most LS1s run around mid to high 13s around here (Tulsa, OK).

As for $600 bucks to break 11s...no way unless you use a REAL aggressive nitrous shot like 200 or 250 hp and then wave bye-bye to your tranny, driveshaft, clutch, and/or rear-end. Where did you get that info?

Unfortunately, I made the mistake of taking a new Silver 2001 Lightning for a test drive a week ago. The L is now in my garage and the T/A is now for sale.

Don't get me wrong, the WS6 T/A is a VERY nice car (I LOVE mine), so congratulations. You will love it.

GTP RULES do you run at NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL raceway????? One good suggestion with your LS1 is i wouldnt accidently go to shift from 3rd to 4th and go into 2nd because you will moslt likely blow your motor one of my LS1 freinds did this last year. My other friend has a 2000 Camaro and has blown his motor and had his tranny rebuilt last week. Oh ya my other freind has a 2000 SS and has gone thru 3 trannys so far. I would just be careful driving over the speed limit i quess

Sorry Guys I was at FFW in Houston all weekend. It should have never gotten this far, this thread is closed before the troll fertilizer starts stinking worse.

PS if Sean Freese from FASTech in Garland, TX was at HRP this weekend he was watching from the stands. FFW has no LS1 classes.
