'in the voice of Cartman!'

My car is faster

than your stupid truck

and if it's not, I'm going to get my big brothers car

it'll kick @ss!

I just hope that those killer audi's keep off my butt when we race

I've got some sweet ride!

Maybe turbo GTP boy just thinks a little differently than the rest do?

Do you seriously think that car will be worth anything? 1 or two years before the last model year...and they make a ton of em. Hate to break it to you, but it won't be worth anything.

I usually don't get involved in this kind of stuff, but I just had to chime in on this one.

First you wrote:

"There have been a number of WS6 owners that are breaking 13 seconds in the quarter mile SHOWROOM STOCK!!! "

Then you wrote:

"I can spend 600 bucks and be in the 11's. Talk is cheap."

So you are saying that a stock WS6 can run 13s, but for only $600 in mods you can break the 11s. Aside from nitrous, I'd like to know what mods you can buy for $600 that will get you a 2 second reduction in your ET on a naturally asperated car. Talk IS cheap, let's see you prove us all wrong.

I'm not trying to bash the car, I actually REALLY like the 97-up WS6s, I think they are a very good looking, well performing car. It's your comments that are questionable.

Let's talk stock to stock. 2001's are a different breed. I can spend 600 bucks and be in the 11's. Talk is cheap. Stock LS1, especially for 2001, will absolutely blow away a lightning unless the driver is incompetent.

</font>
LMAO! You think $600 worth of bolt-ons will get you into the 11's? I sold my '98 Trans Am ram air 383 two days ago, so don't even think of preaching to me as to what the LS1 will and will not do. You obviously don't know anything about it. The LS6 intake will shine a lot more once you start adding power, but on a bone-stock car, 5 RWHP is the max from it. I've seen TONS of LS1 cars dyno and run at the track. Maybe you've been over to LS1.com already. My name is "Trevor98ramair" there. As for the exhaust manifolds, they still suck. Get you a set of FLP, Grottyohann, or TTS long tube headers on, and that will make a noticeable difference.
You have an automatic. Do you honestly expect to pay $600 for parts to get into the 11's? A Precision Industries 9.5" Vigilante torque converter is $700 by itself. You'll then need a set of the $1,000 long tube headers w/ no cats, exhaust cutout (if you're taking the cheap route over a cat-back), ported MAF ends ($100), an induction lid with a K&N ($199), etc. Add in labor, and you're going to be even higher in cost.
Don't preach to me about any of this. I built SEVEN 4L60E transmissions, and I even destroyed the spider gears in my "indestructible" Strange 12-bolt rearend that I paid $2,700 for. My car ran a best of 11.38 @ 117.5 MPH N/A, and that was before I upgraded the heads, shaved them for added compression, added the Crane 1.8:1 adjustable roller rocker arms, and LS6 intake. It will take $3,000-$4,000 in parts and labor to hit the 11's N/A in an LS1. You can save some if you know how to install your own stuff and/or if you buy a stripper car that weighs less. You just bought a WS-6 T/A, so the less weight option is out.
My point is that you're VERY mistaken as to what it will take to get you into the 11's in your Trans Am. Take it from someone that has been there and done it. I'd be happy to help you w/ your mods if you want so that you don't have to try parts to find out that they don't work as well as expected. I tried SO many different things on my Trans Am, so I can tell you what works, what doesn't, etc. I challenge you to find another vehicle out there that will tow a car anywhere and run 12's.

I noticed something odd in your sig. It says WS6 and A4 but Edmunds says WS6 package requires a 6 speed manual.

Trevor D,

Glad to have someone here with your LS1 experience. I do not own an LS1 car, but have a number of friends who do, and was about to point out to this GTP guy some of the very things you mention. All good points, and all are _indisputable_!!

Why anyone would waste their time coming to the competition's board just to inform them that they bought a Brand-X car is beyond me.

Grow up.

GTP needs to grow up.

Oh, and one of my best friends has a '01 WS6 (6-speed). He CAN drive. Trust me. Best time bone stock (stock tires, too) in decent air (not great air)was 13.59 @ 105.xx mph. Not shabby. Same night a bone stock '01 L ran 13.5x also. My friends car will be very fast, shortly. But, like Trevor said it will cost more than $600.

Also, he had the car dyno'd and it put out 305rwhp. I don't think the LS6 stuff was worth much at all over the '99-00 model cars.

4D, have seen sigs on Ls-1.com with the a4 in the WS6 for 2001's FWIW. i would love to see the -2sec formula for $600 even if it involves nitrous. i know the car would not survive it, but i'd like to check out the manufacturer that sells it

Wes, you beat me to it. I would never go over to LS1.com and say I just bought a Lightning and I'm going to be faster than F-bodies. I don't understand why someone would even waste time in posting something like this, other than to provoke comments from the "opposite" side. Trying to overcome shortcomings, maybe?? Who knows.
