Talking Real 2001 Lightning Drag Performance

The accompanying photo is Jerry Green and Casper (2001 Lightning running a Superchip, Pro-M air meter, Bassani exhaust system and running on M/T ET Streets) at DeSoto Dragway this past Sunday. The event was the Bradenton FFW and Jerry's best time with Casper was a 12.78 ET at 106.78 miles per hour. These are real times!

Very nice.

Do you have the full breakdown on the run ?

Can you tell me why the mass-airflow sensor is replaced with a Pro-M ?

I can but I think that I will let Jerry share his details and the reason for the Pro-M. He looks in on this site too.

Looks to me Like these are very comparable with 2000s with the same mods.(THANK GOD) Im shakin in my boots thinkin My Lightning is gonna be inferior to every 2001 I see.Looks like my statement from a few months ago is true.Even though they are much quicker stock,Once modded,They are pretty close. This coming from me who has pulled 12.9s with my chip/filterd lightning.Im sure truck for truck,The same modded 2000 and 2001 are gonna be close and the 2001 might beat it by .2 tops!! I still might sep up to the plate on a 2001 if my truck sells.

Problem is I just bought a brand new $55k white F650 XLT with a JerrDAN 21ft ramp body W/Wheel lift.I bought it for my used car buisness and plan to get some towing buisness out of it also. (I hope so or I wont be able to afford a new Lightning)The body is being put on as we speak .I bought the cab and chassis really cheap,It was a left over 2000.Although the truck is worth $55k,When you do things seperate(body, cab chassis) you can save big $$ and Im only into it complete for $43k. Wish me luck or Im stuck with my lightning or NO LIGHTING.
My plan is that My truck is in the autohunter magazine(page A18) for $26,800 it is a 10k mile MINT white Lighting all stock with Chrome wheels. If somebody gives me $26,800 Ill sell it and buy a new one in a few months after seeing how buisness is.If I cant get every last dollar for it,I am KEEPING it and if I have a good year,Ill buy Another one next year.

I gave away my chip/filter to a local around here and sold my hood to somebody on this board. If I keep my truck,Im going with a full JOHNNY LIGHTNING set up so the chip/filter dont bother me and I can definatly do without the hood.On a regular f150 its great but on a precious lightning,It didnt seem to fit as i thought it would.Right now my truck is sitting in pristine condition in my driveway beggin for a buyer or even better,A Johhny lightning chip/filter/pully/ram air.In one way,I wish it would sell for a 2001 but I think if it sels Im not gonna have the nuts to go buy a new one after spending so much on buisness.

BABolt,
I have had paul dyno my truck several times and he told me the 99-00 dynoed around 318HP bone stock, any idea what Jerry's dynoed at before the mods were put on and what he dynoed at after the mods were on.How does this truck run compared to his other L because that was a strong runner also!

My Lightning is a 2000.

as far as the Jerr Dan bodies go,They are what alot of the trucks around me use with little problems other than lights and wiring but alot of that is installation.I know they are no the best but from the prices I got range from $14,800 to $20,000 I paid 15,800 with rolling the axle 30 inches. This alone is worth $1000 so I feel I got a GREAT deaL ON THE BODY TOO.The prices ranged like this

Champion (crappy body) 17,900 with move axle
Chevron (good body) $17,900 with roll axle
Century (crappy body)$16,900 with roll axle
Jerr Dan Good body) $14,800 with roll axle(But it was in PA and would cost $600 in fuel round trip plus alot of time I dont have)

JerrDan Same set up(roll axle) Local for $15,800 30 minutes from me (this is what I chose)

If I had the ultimate choice it would be a VUL:CAN body and wheel lift but too scared to call on the price

These are all 21ft steel bodies with wheel lift complete with all straps, chains hooks and lightbar and most come with 22.5 inch simulators which is a must for me

Those "real track times" sound about right although I feel this truck has maybe 10 more H.P. than Flying Dutchmans's chipped & filtered 01.I don't beleive exhaust mods give any more than 6-8 H.P. on the L's and I don't really think the Pro-M does anything more than allow slightly better tuning for the other mods, hus giving it a slight advantage to a chipped & filtered L.In that light giving a .2 advantage for the street slicks(good probably for the initial launch only) I would say with a good driver and dialed in truck, a very low 13 or even sub 13 second pass is entirely possible.I've dynoed a Pro-M 80 mm. vs. a "cut" factory 80 mm. on a 98 cobra and got a 2 h.p. advantage with nothin g more than a UPR chip and big mouth conical filter.P.S. these mods were on the pro_m as well.I've seen up to .4 second differences on same year L's.

I myself believe the times, but you know it's only a matter of time for someone (insert your favorite username here)to get all 2001 **** and say "where's the timeslips?" I am surprised that there are this many posts without the special question being asked yet.

Someone else was having a problem in another post, about believing a Superchip could get into the 12's. Imagine that.
