Casper went heads up with a Red 2000 Lightning which ran 12.55 against him -- about a car length and a half.

Question is when is a 2001 not a 2001???
What would a 2000 with 2001 trim look like??

I guess Red is faster than White after all

I think we're going to see a lot of 12 second times in the next month or so from the 01's. Right now its a lot of "test & tune".

Test & Tune? This picture is from the Spring Break Shootout this past weekend at Desoto, hardly a "Test & Tune" session.

I ran Casper's numbers thru my G-Tech Pro and out my AssJet248C, and came back with the corrected #'s of 11.78@116.78. both of the .78's remained constant, so it must mean something. Good run, even for an 01.

Flats Man and I were at Bradenton, and there were at least four (4) lightnings running consistently in the 12s. The suprise was a four-wheel drive pickup which also was in very low 13s.

I was the RED 1999 Lightning that ran Jerry 3 times in Time trials and beat him 3 Times. Now when Jerry did the 12.78 time it was EARLY, EARLY MORNING before even I got there and NO 25 mph Head wind like we faced when we ran 3 times. When we ran 3 times with the head wind, 85 degrees and track temp 0f 118 Degrres (SVTs gun) we could only manage 12.90s with 1.90s 60s.
Jerry and I talked alot the whole weekend and the mods he has on Casper are more then extensive to say the least. I will list most of them in the post to follow but happened to notice this one first. Let me close by saying LOOKS are decieving when it comes to 2001s ask me mine is being changed to 2001 as we speak!!

Lightningquick, how much did the f650 chassis cost? I have a 2000 Freightliner FL60 21' Vulcan, WL, 225 hp Cummins, 6 speed, Air seat, Air park brake, hyd. brakes PW, cruise, & stereo for $48,500 ready to work. Everybody else wanted about $4,000 more for the same thing. Lloyd

1RedDevil -- what did you mean by the "looks are deceiving" comment? Are you getting a 2001? What is the reason for this?

I don't care if it was springbreak shootout.I've seen pro-stocks loose due to not enough R&D put into their motors due to dead lines before a race.If you think that thats all Green's truck is capable of, think again.Johnny lightning's truck is skating on the 11 second barrier with basically bolt-ons and a lot of tuning.Test and tune is never done.Doesn't matter if it is at a shootout or a stoplight.

Hello,
I see a lot of questions so I guess I will step back in. The times for Jerry's truck are posted at the Ford Mall. I posted the URL in another thread. The time that I posted was the best that he did last weekend. Yes he was eliminated in the second round (posted that too), I did not say that he was the fastest. His times are indicative of what a 2001 Lightning can do. Yes there are those of you that have hinted that it is not a true 2001. Well the fact is it is a 2000 vehicle that has been updated to 2001 specs. Why would this matter. I think that it is great that the 01 hardware was/is being tested. These are not new actions, my 1995 Mustang was campaigned as a 1996 Modular Car for three years and alway had national attention ( Not With Me as the owner/driver but rather Barry Shepard who did an outstanding job.) No one ever questioned what the actual year of this vehicle was. It just did not matter. It was brought to the specification level for the year that it was campagned as. Just like Jerry's 2001 Lightning. For me I am just glad to see Lightnings perform well, exceptionally well and believe it or not it does not have to be me.
P.S.
In regards to the Pro-M, I think that they are great meters and early on in August, 1999 it was the most consistent piece of hardware that I had added to my Lightning. I still use it to this day. If someone wanted to engage in an intelligent conversation about the Pro-M I would do so but not on a message board. I have no intention to convert anyone I firmly believe that everyone gets to make their own choice. Thanks.

I sold 35 Pro-Ms in a group buy. No one complained other than some with Superchips had to get them reprogrammed because they were too lean. Thats because they FLOW MORE AIR. Get it. Mine works great.

Angry

So "Casper" is running a Pro-M mass air flow sensor in a 90 mm diameter to get him functionally equivalent to a 2001 Lightning's stock 90 mm diameter factory mass airflow sensor ?

If this is true, then the title of this thread is misleading and WRONG, since it is not a 2001 but a modified 2000. It would also matter a GREAT DEAL since it is a 2000 Lightning, with a year's worth of development on it.
