Cool

HI!... RUSLOW : I'm not trying to put your truck down or anything, you did a really good job fabricating it up. Is this cage for road racing or the dragstrip? If for the dragstrip, it would never pass tech or certification here in CANADA. Here in CANADA the rear bars coming out to the bed MUST be mounted directly over the centerline of the rear axle. The side bars must also come down at an agle to specs of where the driver's shoulders are when sitting in the driver's seat. Like I said I'm not trying to harp on your cage, it's very well done. Did you use a spray gun or a airbrush to paint the cage. You can't even tell it was painted after the fact. Good job.

And the purpose of this was to, …… ruin a perfectly good Lightning?

I am sickened, no other word can be found. I don’t care if this Lightning eventually goes 900 MPH, couldn’t this chop job be done on a regular F-150 with a blower?

In about 20 years we’ll be checking F-150 VIN’s and finding yahoos placing Eaton blowers onto regular F-150’s trying to sell them off as Lightning’s. Point being, you don’t know what you have until they’re all gone. The Lightning count is now x = x – 1.

I’ll also say that you have impeccable timing since the news about cloning human babies and chopping Lightning’s up came out on the same day!

Is there no humanity left?

It’s your truck do what you want with it, just don’t post pictures of yourself eating your own babies for the sake that there yours also.

Well I think I’ll surf the web and look for homemade Ferrari station wagons now.

You did a good job. But that is a lightning. I would have traded you trucks before you did that, you will have to replace almost everything anyway.

As a side note, the stuff that you do have to get rid of, drop me a line. tteten@hotmail.com Sorry Igogether, but im building an imposter L. I know you're gonna flame me too, but i don't care.

Sorry to **** off any L owners, but I feel that an L with a 5-speed is a good thing, even if mine is an imposter. There are more places to race than just the dragstrip.

Ted (Lightning R)

4.6L (stock so far)
5-speed
SVT Lightning wheels
285/50w - 18 Yokohoma tires (these are sweet)
2000 Lightning bumper and grill (finally!)
JVC CD player that is hardly worth mentioning

shhhh!!! Don't tell anyone about those F150 Badges

Ruslow - You go boy..... You paid your money, you make your mods. The only thing that matters is that you are happy with the end result. JMHO.

AMEN Ruslow, the L is a Sports truck, not a wash and wax special. I swear some of you guys remind me of the whine and cheese guys that think they have to protect the heritage of the breed. It's guys like Ruslow that will make the L a legend. When you pull your L out of it's air-conditioned garage 20 years from now, and put it's 100th mile on it, don't tout it's performance and tell tales of a L running 180mph...you didn't earn the right.

Ruslow and the rest,

You guys are correct and I’m wrong. So I retract my previous statement/post. It is your truck, 2nd time I’ve stated this (for some that can’t fully comprehend the written language) and you can do what you wish to it.

You are correct to take a limited production F-150 Lightning and invest how ever much it takes to propel it to 180 MPH, instead of taking a standard F-150 and investing the same amount to propel it to 180 MPH. What was I thinking, I now realize that a 180 MPH F-150 under any name is not a standard F-150 or a Lightning, carry the L badge so some say. A lightning it is not, an abomination it is.

I also understand your justification by referencing your AC and adding a roll cage to it. You simple could of taken the unlimited production version of the AC (that would be a um?), and taken my advice again. Wait a minute that won’t work will it, that’s comparing applies to oranges isn’t it?

Now I’m off to paint my Lightning pink and paisley, put 4-foot rabbit ears on it roof, place my 1986 oval piston, dual connection rod, F1 Honda V6 turbo charged 2000 HP engine in the bed, and pass your measly 180 MPH milestone event. My cheese and me will have no further input to this absurd discussion, good day.

lgogether...have a bad week at work? I here guys talk or claim to have seen "L"s with camper shells. Now I think that is a F'ed truck. All kinds of rare cars/trucks make it to the track, man I have seen a lot of '63 split windows that will never be the same again. And life still goes on. I personally think it's pretty cool to have a event held in the state I live in and probably no other that I know of[correct me if I'm wrong Ruslow]where guys can run there car/truck all out for 90mi. Then see a "L" wins it's class. Oh well like I said before, hope ya never have to use it.

Ruslow:
I think it looks kick a$$, great job. Some people will like it an some won't, But it is your truck to do with how you please. I have over $65k invested in my MR2 turbo, that also has a roll cage and is capable of 180 MPH. Some of my friends and family think I'm crazy for putting that kind of money into a vehicle, but your passion for what you love to do is your own, and i say do it up the way you want and enjoy. Bill
