ford doesn't have any problems with any model year truck, that's what they'll tell you. sixpipes truck is almost a year old and his leak just showed up at 19K. mine is about the same age with 15K and hasn't been back to the dealer, ever. luck of the draw. the acummulative time at 10psi of boost might have something to do with it.

I don't know why somebody did not answer your question. I have not had a problem with mine (yet) and I don't know that I will but to answer your question. The fix is to replace, sometimes just the intercooler other times the lower intake, intercooler and the supercharger too. As of right now there is no guarantee that the problem will not reoccur. There has been no design change and if you check you will see that at least two individuals have had there intercoolers replaced twice. Good luck.

Cool

OK, here's the poop.

My truck was finished yesterday and just got it back from Bankston. I took it in for the 3.73 gears last Wednesday and told them about the intercooler leak when I dropped it off. They installed the gears on Thursday, check the intercooler, found the leak and ordered the part from Detroit. They did not get the part on Friday as hoped, but received it over the weekend and did the replacement on Monday. Awesome service in my opinion. The chip was never mentioned as a potential problem. The service writer was curtious and apologized for not having the truck as expected on Friday.

He mentioned the intercooler leak as being located in a seam by the neck where the coolant enters the unit. He also mentioned that the tech noticed a significant (seat of the pants) difference between the 3.55 and 3.73 gears. I didn't have the heart to tell them that I left the Superchip in the "stock" mode when I dropped it off. YEEEEEOW!

Bankston Ford in Frisco gets a 5-star rating in my book. Mr. Bankston can be very proud of this place.

Going out of town. Be back Wednesday PM. The "scalded ape" is sitting in the garage and all is right with the universe.

Went for an oil change today (17500m.) and lo and behold the intercooler res. is BONE dry. So tomarrow the dealer will be getting a call for the first time. Also will have them fix the front end clunck and see why there is water in both tail light assemblies.
P.S. the chip will be pulled just in case.

Has anyone tried a sealer yet? I know its not the best but, what do you have to lose? Your going to get a new innercooler anyway. I have this stuff called aluma-seal, I will send it to anyone if you would like to try it. I have used it in the past with GREAT RESULTS.
e-mail me if you want to try it.

Well I guess I'm human again. Arrest Me Red
99 has the afflicktion that many other 99 L's
have gone thru. My intercooler started to leak at around 13800 miles or so. I went to the East coast for the week after Easter and had all my fluids checked when I noticed the
reservoir was down about 2in. So I watched it
like a halk since then. I added so far maybe a quart to quart and ahalf. Had in to the dealers to be presure tested. They said in was not leaking. But they did order the replacement parts to repair it. (?) My build
# is 914. Mods are; slammed 4 and 6, Supperchiped, PSP air inlet system, full Bassani exhaust, water weter, Innovations-
Industries Pro lid (molded on wing with 3rd
brake Led lite, Bed Rug, Carbon dash applica,
rear window slider replaced with black glass,
can't remember now but there is lots more.

Question

I would like to inquire about the leaking intercoolers and water wetter. I know they have a good product. I would be curious to find out if there is any relationship between the leaks and water wetter use. If you would please post wether or not you have a leak and use the water wetter...or if you do and don't use this product..sort of a root cause anaylsis.

I dont use watter wetter and still had the leak. I thinks its more a manufacturing defect. Has anyone checked on the supplier of the intercooler and whether other vehicles that might use a similar part have had problems? Just a though worth repeating...

hey guys, i have a question. i've had a lightning since last may and i have about 25000 miles on it. today i checked at the intercooler resev, and it was half full. i haven't noticed any leaks or anything like that. my question is, is this normal? will have the coolant be used up over the course of a year? thanks for the help. by the way, only mod is a k/n filter.

Went by my dealership today to check on my intercooler which is on order now 1 week. No news. So much for the BS from Matt at SVT who said that the intercoolers were in the supply system and "should" be "easily" available when ordered "Priority" Yea, Hurry up and wait.......................Hey guys its ok with me I bought the extended warranty. I'll love that new engine later down the road.

NoElvm....

I got my truck back last Thursday. The had the parts in 2 days. I was real impressed with the service and they even washed my truck. It looked spotless.

I have it back there now because I think that the O2 sensors are gone. They wanted me to bring it back to check to make sure everything is working correctly. They didn't road test my vehicle either, which is ok by me.

Hopefully you will get yours fixed very shortly.

Hey guys, sorry this post isnt about the intercooler topic. I was just wondering if Robert Chuhran had any pics of his truck. I would like to see what a 4/6 drop looks like on an L. Thanks
