That is great news. Which Bankston Dealer are you going to ?? Sounds like a place that deserves some business.
Unfortunately there is no class in the Fastest Lightning in Texas contest for Scalded Apes with modified rear ends....
I am delaying a 3 week trip to Brussles for this stupid contest so somebody better show up.

Jerrrod and I are taking our Ls to Joe Myers Ford here in Houston on Monday. We have an appointment. I am taking the post from this board and others, which he asked for, as I have explained to him what we have here and he thinks it's great. I will let you know what happens.

We had a 99 with 1600 miles come in about two weeks ago for other concerns and I took a peek at the intercooler reservoir and it was bone dry.
Scary... im checking mine about every week now and still looking good at 3400mi

The intercooler did not arrive on Friday from Detroit. I should be able to pick up the "L" early next week. This ape reference thingy is still interesting to me. I mean, how fast is an ape, scalded or otherwise? My dad always used to use the term "striped ape". A word search returned the following references.
"Mine pulled like a striped ape".
"The car ran like the proverbial striped-ape in spite of the fact I never learned how to make quadrajets work (and still don't)".
"IT RUNS LIKE A STRIPED APE AND CORNERS LIKE A MERCEDES".
And from Cat Fancy.....
"um...could someone please tell me why the orange boy cat runs around the apartment like a striped ape after he has stunk up the litterbox"?
A couple of other ape-performance references.
"Has anyone with K&N heard this sound before? What could this be?
Everything else is fine, runs like spotted ape."
"GADZOOKS, these extensions took off like the proverbial spotted ape and before you could say "Bob" these Netscape extensions became the defacto standard".
Apes must be deceptively fast or something.

You missed some great!! Road work in San Antonio this weekend. Nathan, Wyldman and I were all having a ball on some real twisty hilly 2 lane on the way back from a visit to a lake so the 4x4's could play. We had 14 4x4's about 2 miles in front or so telling us on CB about the traffic and any cops and it was a ball.
My L now has over 3000 and is really coming in to its own.....

I just saw some of your pictures from the San Antonio rally. It looks like ya'll had some pretty nice weather down there. Great pictures. As it turned out, even if my truck would have been ready on Friday, I wouldn't have been able to make it. MY father-in-law had an accident Thursday afternoon and had to be hospitalized until Saturday.
Hopefully the "L" will be ready tomorrow or at the latest Tuesday. Looking forward to getting back down to Ennis. Do you know if the track will be open this Friday (Good Friday)?

Jerrod & I took our L's into ford today for intercooler leaks. I had all the posts here and elsewhere printed out. Tech took one look and immediately called ford to get the latest scoop. Here it is 1. Check for leaks (found none). 2. put dye in both systems and said to drive around for awhile and bring back in and they would pull the o2 sensor and plugs (I doubt it) and if dye is found they will order intercooler. They will then put truck back together and DISCONNECT PIN 70 and truck can be driven without blower until intercooler is received. Asked how long it would take to get intercooler and was told "awhile". Not a good answer. If they think I'm paying $30000 to drive a dog around for a month there crazy. When I asked where they would disconnect PIN 70, Tech only smiled and said he would disconnect it.Soooooo, where are they going to disconnect you tech guys. Is is a connector or a fuse? Please post. This does not sound like a fun situation.
If they are going to endup replacing 4000 intercoolers it's going to be a nightmare for everyone, especially if the new parts are only going to trickle into the supply line. I'm going to call SVT tomorrow, This is B.S.

don't know if the wise men at ford would allow this as an alternative to disconnecting your blower, but, as most of you know, i use water spray as an intercooler on my blown dodge. maybe if the leak shows up, you can ask ask to keep the blower functional, and fill empty system with 75% distilled water, 25% denatured alcohol. it works very well as an intercooler as well as a spray (leak), ingested into the engine under boost. it doesn't harm anything, and cleans engine. fairly cheap, 3gals water 1.50gl, 1gl denatured alcohol 8.00gl (home depot paint dept) so 4gls mixture for 12.50, until your new intercooler comes in. just an idea, i can't imagine driving this truck w/o blower, if you are forced to do it "their" way, ask them to remove the badges until pin #70 is re-connected.
hey sixpipes,
Did your new intercooler arrive? I talked with SVT this morning and they said there should be no delays in getting an intercooler. If your has not arrived call SVT at 1-800-367-3788 and raise APE.
Post their resonse if you call.

Hey Alpha
From what I understand, the 2000 is just a carry over from the '99 model. Ford has not been able to come to a solid answer for the problem yet or a solid solution. Replacement parts are the same as the ones that are put on at the factory. SOOOO, I would still be looking out for the problem.
Later..
