I know what you mean about the Lightning Don... When I turned 16 my Dad let me have his '99 F150. We also have a '00 Dakota... probably not as fast as your Lightning... but the noise and the power it's got is just awesome. My Dad wouldn't let me drive it until last summer, when he handed the keys and title over to me. Yeah, it was hard not stealing the keys from my Dad... but it was worth it. I got one heck of a truck. I will NEVER sell it. Why? Because of many reasons.

1. It was my Dad's and both of us put a lot of money in work into it to get it just right.
2. It is a rare truck... meaning no one has one in comparible shape, and the drivetrain configuration.
3. They just don't make trucks like they used to. I've got to admit, that Dakota drives like a truck... but my '07 F150 drives like a Lincoln Towncar.
4. It's head-turning. People look at me, and say good things about me... not like a kid with a rice-burner. It has use and also glitz and glamour... not to mention hp.
5. Keeping something and adding your heart into it over the years makes it "yours".

I don't drive mine that much anymore. But when I do, I am careful... not to mention the big grin that I have driving it... listening to the sound of that big v8. But when I have it sitting, I can take the cover off and sit there and stare and stare and stare....... and stare.

It's an obssession.

Don,

You've been smoking some good stuff again, haven't you? That's the only explanation for you being out of your mind. I have lots of vehicles I rarely drive. But they sure are a blast when I find time. You can afford to keep it, and you should. Ford will never build another truck like this. My $0.02

P.S. I'm going to Norwalk, are you?

Your friend (with or without a Lightning),

Lightning Bob

The best thing I've ever heard about keeping a truck.

I would say keep it because you obviously want to if you are asking us: The Lightning community.

Unthinkable

Years ago I had a 66Fairlane GT 390 that actually put out close to 400 hp.I was in the Army at the time and March of 69 got orders back to Nam.I had 3 options Store it , leave it at my parents house in which case my brothers would have trashed it or SELL it. Isold it. Biggest mistake I've ever made as far as vehicles go. This was one bad A$$ Ford. Hindsight is always 20/20, I don't know what I'd to have a chance to do it over, but I'll never make the same mistake again. The L stays as long as Ican my tired a$$ out of bed in the morning and drive it. That's my .02cts for what it's worth. MikeyP

I understand Don......My truck sits in the garage for weeks/months at a time between drives. But,..its like driving a new truck when I do get around to it, its fun and thats enough for me.

Sell it if its taking up space for other projects.

If you do sell it, know it will be hard to replace a truck modded like yours with known history.

Go where the enjoyment is. If you get more enjoyment out of the Bronco, sell the L and enjoy toying with the Bronco. The off road oriented vehicles have an entirely different personality in modifying than other vehicles. The possibilities are endless. The nice thing... its only a vehicle. If you sell and want one back, they are easy to find and can enjoy moding one all over again. Might cost ya, but would still be fun.

Be careful, once you lift it the bug is caught. I've gone from 3.5" springs to 5.5" springs, and now in the process of altering the WB on my Rubi... It never ends. http://www.okrubicon.com/pics/MOAB/day2-004.JPG

If you can afford it, keep it. I think about my old 99L everyday but have no regrets of selling. I think you should go on a vacation and think about it.
No rush.

He is, Dons whole life is a vacation

Don just sell it and buy another one bigger and badder, it isnt the model that bores you after a while, it's just having the same one day in and day out.
Big Red gave me new Love I never had for the L before, and Beauty and the Beast changed my life forever. I'm more in love with the L's now than I ever was before (even after 6 years of owning 1 (well ok 3)

Look at it like this Don, who the hell wants the same women forever, they just bitch and moan about more and more as time goes on, so instead you bare a child or 6 then cheat or trade them in for a better model
