You are all entitled to your opinions, and from what I've read, such as the comment about me having a manual tranny, it makes me laugh out loud!!!! You guys have your heads in your exhaust outlets or something!! Hey - I raced a Lightning to 70, where I was up by 1/2 car. He may have passed me at 80, 90. Who knows. Yes, stock-vs-stock, a Lightning should take a GTP. However, the pulley swap mod is a big one for the GTP which unleashes quite a bit of HP.

I think the reason why the comment was made about the GTP having a manual tranny, is because a lot of people (including myself)just assume that it's an option, being a special edition GP.

But Pontiac (thppt!) is too brainless to realize that a manual tranny SHOULD be an option with that car...

 

TimBurnTire - whereabouts in Ft. Laud do you live? It is one of my favorite vacation destinations - sort of a second home town. We, the wife and I, used to come down annually for the Bills/Fish game in October or November, sometimes in December. Now with the kids, have not been down in about 3 years. The beach off A1A, The pier at Commercial Blvd, Pelican Bar, a cruise up to Boca, Pompano Park gambling on the ponies, the Crab Shack (by the airport?)....ahhhh the good ole days...

I remember smacking a modified GTP around town w/myself only having PSP filter installed. He kept up pretty well...for the first second. It was a joke and I felt bad for deflating his ego, now I don't feel so bad about it.

HEY! I had a C5 up to 30 in my Wrangler by 3/4 of a car,"I grabed first", then by 32 we were door to door,then by 35 he was starting to pull on me so I shut her down That's a win right?!? LOL

you need to stop messin with these lightening guys, you need to realize(as i did) that your grand prix is slow, you were just lucky enough to race one of the few un-modified lightnings out there. And your darn durango couldnt even beat my car and thats just sad. I think im just a ford guy cooped up in a pontiac.
