Enough, Enough, Enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cops Don’t Write Other Cops Tickets That There Prerogative.

I’m Sure Tons Of Cops Give Plenty Of Warnings To People For Traffic Related Stops.

But A Small Percentage Get Tickets, And Sometimes It’s Us!

Look At It From A Positive Aspect. How Many Times Do We Speed Everyday? So We Finally Get Caught And Get A Ticket. Oh Well!

We Can’t Do Anything About It, So Lets Drop The Nasty Postings To Other On Here.

I don't know how they do things in Florida, but here in California the "professional courtesy" issue is not exactly a subject for open conversation, and certainly not on a bulletin board of this type. I can personally attest to the fact that in 1996, I stopped an officer who was off-duty, subsequently arresting him for drunk driving. I towed his car and arrested his passenger (a second off-duty officer from his agency) for public intoxication. I have also issued many citations to fellow officers, however I also gave many breaks, as I did to any citizen who had a good story or just seemed to get the point through a quick reminder.

I tell you this because I want you to know that we do not all belong to the same club as mjb1206. Some of us, (including myself even though retired) still like to think of ourselves as professionals who will not stand by while others of our chosen profession break the law with wanton disregard for it. As far as a guy being dismissed simply for being "too smart", well I was not there, but most agencies are fighting hard to find good candidates, so I would think there may be more to that story, but who knows?

Let's get back to discussing radar detectors and lay off the police, since mjb1206 does not represent any of the officers I know and worked with. His comments reflect his limited knowledge of the business and his overall lack of maturity.

clonetek - The only place I know of to get a V1 is directly from them. Unless you can find someone looking to sell theirs. There was some talk in one of the threads about being able to get reconditioned models at a savings.

I'll continue to use my V1 as long as there is "Professional Courtesy" to deal with.

Okay, it's late, I'm still up. But even I can see that mjb1206 has deleted all of his postings, and we now have a new member, FSUFAN. Greetings new member, but I'm curious. mjb1206 had a very distinct way of typing. For some reason (known only to him) he capitalized the first letter of every word in every sentence. Kind of like you do........never seen that before, then twice in one day...............Oh well, welcome to the board FSUFAN.

What a coincidence:

MJB1206 is from South Miami, Florida and posted:

HANKFAN,
I have a NOS kit on my 2000 Lightning. If you would like to E-mail me directly, I’ll be glad to share my experiences with it so far.

It involves a lot more than just putting the kit on and spraying the **** out of it. There are several other things that should be done to enhance the performance and reliability of any NOS application, not to mention damaging the engine.

My E-mail address is mjb1206@bellsouth.net

Sounds like these two guys -- who both have drop kits, NOS and 80 mm air mass mods -- should get together and compare notes (or badges?) .

You guys crack me up.

Leave the poor guy alone, he just telling you how it is... It may not be how you would like it to be, but it is that way.

blue blood, it does not take a degree to be a professional.

Reminds me of something my friend Mike likes to say:
"God created only a few engineers, the rest go there by degree."

That said, instead of engineers, think professionals.

Thanks for telling the truth...

Good catch!

I too wondered why this topic drew him out for his first post -- and that he was savvy enough to have his signature well organized.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm

Question

To V1 owners, did you do your own install, or did you have someone else do it? If someone else, how much were you charged for the install? Can anyone recommend an installer in the So. Cal. area, preferably Ventura County?

Cool

alpha,

It is a very simple instllation. I'm sure you can do it yourself. The manual that comes with the V1 is rather skimpy but is adequate to give you all the information you need to install the unit. Running the wire from the unit to power and/or the remote just requires you to tuck the wire under the door trim. The manual even tells you how to make up your own cord (the system connects with phone cord and RJ connectors).

Give it a try!

Good luck,

adp

I have access to some really High Tech X-band/KA-band/K-band and KU-band transmitters being a Radar engineer for the FAA. I have a brother-in-law that bought the K40 system and I'm purchasing a Valentine 1, I'm going to take a couple of days at work and evaluate both systems to the max. I will post all results for the board when completed. I will order the Valentine 1 next week and the evaluation will be on.
Hopefully this will take care of all the harassing we receive for driving such hi-performance and glamourous vehicles from the local police & state police.

Well, okay, but how will any of those units fend off fixed-wing surveillance or the time (and court tested) pacing methods of apprehension? Hey, I'm just asking.....

I have been pulled over many times, not really something I want to brag about but in all the times me or my spouse has been pulled over we were always caught speeding with radar. I somehow have a clean record though, (lot of money spent keeping it clean)but I would like to alleviate spending the money on courts and buy some protection. I'm going with the odds, probably since I earned (hehe) my drivers license I've been pulled over roughly 30 times for speeding, always by being clocked on radar. Just going with the odds and hoping for the best.

I'm too old to speed everywhere but some of the speed limits here in Oklahoma are so ridculous that it really agitates the **** out of me. And the cops usually are so frivolous out here that you don't have a chance unless you have the best protection money can buy and I much rather give it to
Mike Valentine that the Oklahoma Court Systems. Just my 02 cents,

Terry
