I've seen few times on one dyno, on one dyno sheet, on one vehicle, three results taken 1/2 hour of eachother, some cases up to 10+- HP difference in the readings.
The best operators in the world cannot keep the numbers exact each and every time, they'd have to be faking it.
The vehicle itself has to many odds to factor in. Was the vehicle hot or cold when tested? Which fuel were they using at that exact time? Between longer dyno's, was the oil switched to Synthetic? You get my point.
You're talking about different readings on different machines at different times under different circumstances.
Take Sal's or Swanson's Mods they done with the lightnings. Lets take the chip. Get Swanson's to get you 20 chips, take a 2000 lightning, and start swapping chips. As soon as you're done the first chip, run it on the Dyno, then put in the second, etc. I will bet you that you will find no two numbers the same, and probably in some cases, way different, yet it's the same chip, same truck, same dyno, same operator. Operator error, right?? The way you put it, the operator's gotta be a moron if they aren't the same. Give me a break.
Every one out there puts the best numbers that they've ever got out for everyone to see what can be achieved. I've never seen anyone yet say I put my truck on the dyno, and gained 7HP, 10 HP, then 15HP, it's always "I gained 15HP". You get my point yet?
You guys can really make me laugh sometimes, I love this board.

Nick d,
Installed 3 SPAL fans, I believe they are 6 1/2 or 7 ". I had shroud fabricated.I think this is about the same set-up High Risk has but I don't have Electric Radiator fan.
Ba Bolt is working on a 15 inch rim. When his source has these ready I will run 15 inch M/T Slicks. I have to launch from idle now & still have traction problems. Driveshaft safety loop is required for Slicks, There is a Mustang unit that fits the Lightning.Only about 100.00 installed

nick d, Forgot the Bassini question, Not much performance gain, if any, from he Bassini, a little loud for me. Probably Would just do the headers (Coated) if I did over again. With the Coated headers, I don't have much as much heat under the hood.

Reality 1,

NOPE!!! No chip yet. I consider myself to be a patient and polite person, but this wait is getting out of hand. I can understand the long wait for a handcrafted intake/filter system, but how long can it take to burn a chip and mail it??? The part that really upsets me is the check for these parts was CASHED 04-12-00! I am sorry to all for the flaming post, but I have my limits.

Thumbs down

Moses,

Good grief, dude. Would you chill out? What's with the attitude?

I was only making a statement regarding a simple Dynojet. I agree completely with your comments regarding temp of the motor, temp of oil, etc. Heck, certainly the operating temp of the driveline fluids could make a slight difference.

But, I don't believe its going to be THAT big of a difference if you test the vehicle using the same format. Granted, these people may not be doing that...we obviously have no control over that, so I understand your point.

No reason to be so pompous about it.

And frankly, I expect my vehicles on different dynos to perform within 1-2% of previous pulls (and they all do)...no matter the day...given the exact same tune (no changes in combo, or way the pulls were made). Make changes which include even small ones like you mention (synth. oil) and you can throw that out.

Do you think you're the only one with credibility on this board? Can't take it when someone else has a different opinion?

PLUS, let's keep the facts straight. You _specifically_ referenced elevation and temperature (which I assumed to be ambient air temp...maybe I was wrong there). These factors should _not_ come into play at all when using a dyno (that's what a correction factor and a correctly calibrated Dynojet should be able to account for). The factors you mentioned in your reply to me certainly can, but I wasn't debating those.

Nice effort to change gears on me there.

I am not stating anything you don't know if you've been around these things at all (which I'm sure you have). Just making a clarification.

Puleeze...give ME a break.

BABolt,

No doubt the 4.6 Mod motor crowd is really showing it's stuff. Mike Murillo from Texas JAM who generally runs in Outlaw class went to Bradenton earlier this year with his wife's daily driven 2000 GT cause his Outlaw Mustangs were not ready in time for Bradenton.

The GT is blown and he was spraying it.

He was disquailified for lacking proper safety equipment for running 10.69.

Now if we can just get our 2 ton plus hunks of iron going 10s .

The quest for speed never ends. There is always somebody faster.

I just want to say that Sal has been a HUGE help to me. Any time I have a question or need some help he has been there for me. Yes he is busy and might take him a little to get back to you, but i will tell you this, it is all worth it. I am running high 12's with psp chip filter custom ehaust and m/t tires.

Thanks Sal for all of your help

Chris

You know...this is an interesting thread....in the fact that the competition is heating up.

I desperately want to order a chip. I know which one I want (PSP) as I have always wanted one, but in reality, I just don't know when it would get here. I'd love to have it by the beginning of July but I just am afraid of ordering and not getting it until September!

I could go with the SHM chip as I am up here in Ontario but again...still thinking.

Does anyone really know how long it would take to get one of Sal's chips?
