Hey asdeman, right now, we're using the pulley on our everyday driving Lightning with the rest of the mods. Nice power increase, but the ET's are slacking. So far haven't had any major complaints, mechanical problems or anything that'd damage the engine. Only thing I've heard is maxed out lightnings putting on the pulley and getting nothing, but that was solved with a custom chip for all the mods they put on the truck.
When it's perfected, no matter who does it, the pulley is gonna make a huge difference to the Lightning when combined with the chip and Mass Air.
Another thing you can look into, something really simple, the mechanical fan. That thing sucks back between 10-12 HP. Get a kit to switch to an electric fan.
There's alot of little things like that we discovered on the Lightning. When I get the details on each one, I'll through them up on here for you guys.
SilverBullet, check back here or at the site tommorrow or next week and I'll get an answer for you.

Ok... I have Sal's chip, so you know what bias I may have...

SHM has better service for a product they spend less concern for...

Sal has more concern, but has a demand he can't meet....

But look at the numbers!

SHM: 13.26
PSP: SEVERAL 13.0's

YES! I KNOW it's bench racing! But DAMMITT!!! Why post your et's at all if you don't believe these? Damn HYPOCRITS! LEACHES!

So what do you do for the Chip guy that loses? A pat on the back? Give me a break! This IS free enterprise... NOT SCIENCE!

Pick your chip. Run what you brung. If most of the others are running faster, take their advice.

Hey Oklahome, while I have stated some of the same opinions about Sal I think it should be considered that Sal can also see through alot of the Bull***** thrown in here. And is trying to keep people from being misinformed. Mike Troyer has done the same thing to a certain degree, but has not offered much worth while advice compared to Lightning Tuner. Sal's history with the Lightning Org. ect should also be considered. Things done for the pure interest of the hobby/(I wouldn't call racing a Lightning a sport) Plus I like the small shop..

The facts are the facts

Superchips...Lots of Posts about Problems. A Few about Having Great results, One customer runs like stink, others are happy others are selling their SuperChips

Swanson....Good Posts about His Chips not much data to date..Posts refer to a surge @ cruzing speed..

PSP..Lots and Lots of Posts Good one's most all. Delivery of product was slow but has improved. A couple of slow et's with PSP chips but a small minority, very small.

SHM.. Who? a mustang guy..I don't know anything other than what I have read on coral.net Some good there Some bad.. Has a strong background with mustangs. Is he doing the work? or is he working on those 50K motors? Business is Business.. No data from f150online guys that I found..

Ray says it the best, period there is no reason for this to continue, the products speak for themselves. Remember guys I myself was the first to run 13.0's back in september, and that was a superchip back then but they have had alot of problems lately, that does not give anyone the right to bash on PSP. He has given us more information than weve ever needed, alot of you older members would agree. Most of you NEW guys don't take the time to do a search and gain knowledge. All you guys out there know what is available for your SVT's, So sometimes you have to wait a little longer for a product...BIG DEAL.. as you see It's worth it. As far as Sean Hyland is concerned, go waste the money, if you do you won't be happy...........

Reality1-

Great 1/4 mile time!

Are there any more mods than the ones in your sig?

Are you running slicks?

12's w/o slicks is awesome! Forget "All Motor"... How about "ALL DRIVER!"

What is going on here, some of you need to relax a little. I think it's great we have Sal and Sean here now, but lets not turn this thread into something that will get locked. I could care less what chip you run in your truck, unless you beat me This whole chip thing has become a battle line - why? This should be friendly rivalry. As far as dyno and ET, the only thing that counts is what makes your truck faster. A friend has a 99 SS, he can kill my Cobra on the dyno. But I can kill him in a race. BTW, both cars are within 15lbs of each other so it's not a weight thing.

Lightning Dammitt, I will be running slicks as soon as I can ge some 15" wheels. Got Driveshaft safety loop installed last week, also just finished installing 3 - 7" fans & intercooler pump switch. hope this will help.
Speaking of Chips...Baby Jake, Did you get yours yet? Jim

Cool

Seems to me that the majority of the mod motors are massaged past the point of bolt on. I know they run the gamet of bolt on product but they massage the intake and exhaust. Few here with the 99-00 motord Lightning have gotten into the cases. Does SHM balance and blueprint these super Stangs?

Of course I could be wrong for I am the proverbial A-hole...with another opinion.

Spiro99SVT:
If you see this as bashing you and Sal both have a problem. The only one doing any bashing is PSP and yourself. Quote:

"As far as Sean Hyland is concerned, go waste the money, if you do you won't be happy".

I don't own either one but I'm very interested in purchasing the best product for our very special vehicles so the inquiries I'm making are not about bashing just facts that I have read from threads that were posted here on the Lightning board. There is no doubt in my mind that SHM is far more knowledgable about tuning vehicles than Sal ever could be, but since Sal specializes in the Lightning he does put out good products for these vehicles, no one ever said he doesn't. Its about how one person always disparges the competiton without knowing jack squat about them.
Good luck & enjoy the PSP chip,
Terry

Thumbs up

I don't know who has the fastest chip, but Sal helped me and others with problems that were posted on this board. Most of these problems were things that Sal had no way to make any money from. He does not do this much any more, but his help was very valuable. THANK YOU, SAL!

Jamstro, the only reason is quoted the 4.6 specialist thing, is that, that is about as reassuring to me as being a powerstroke specialist. he has, granted, a mod motor, but it's NA, not SC, it's in a car, not a heavy truck. so what's the difference between him and say, Banks, who works with ford trucks, with our tranny, and boosted ford engines. i'm sure he is a "god" among the stang crowd, but that is not always transferrable. so, to get some attention, maybe he needs to pool his resources and try to get an "L" into the 10's. one member here, HIGH RISK, broke in the 11's, pretty much on his own, not a "tuners" truck, 10's would sure get my attention

Asdeman, Listen here, I am not trying to bash anyone, I have tried Sean Hyland also and in my opinion it was a waste of money. Don't turn this into something it's not....Let it rest...

I have the right to my opinion, if you don't like it too bad...And yes I will enjoy my chip

I don't have a chip yet, I am still undecided, but as far as Sal's character is concerned I remember a Friday night when I had a problem with my Lightning, I instant messaged Sal on AOL, and he spent a good 30 minutes with me just going through what the possiblities might be, explaining to me how different parts worked, made thoughtful suggestions, and there was no money to be made in any of this. This is not to count the several other times I have contacted him with various questions, mostly having nothing to do with buying anything.

While I don't know who has the best chip I know Sal's intentions are not purely for financial gain, as some posts seem to imply.

Sal,
------
My customers have the fastest trucks on this board, period.
------

uhh....funny I went 13.16@103.8 ON STOCK TIRES! some of us are still faster

sorry had to poke Sal I realize guys like high risk are running low 12's etc. However, for me it means more to do it in street trim. Meaning fully loaded on street tires. When I have some real time I plan on pull the tailgate/hitch/all my junk/ putting on some real tires and going for a solid 12.

I will agree with you that I cannot count how many mustang owners have said very negative things about SHM and the "bearded wonder". Personally I have not dealt with him. I prefer to use a local shop who is very knowledgable when it comes to mod motors in mustangs or lightnings. As a matter of fact they are the only one's I know with cams/heads for the lightning as of right now.

Just thought I would pass along my 2.50 and some change
