Post Need Dealer in D.C. area

I am interested in purchasing a red Lightning. Can someone recommend a dealer in the D.C. area please?

Also, folks on this board keep referring to the "A" plan. What is it?

Thanks!!

Waldorf Ford on US 301 in Waldorf MD (301) 843-2400. Ask for Fred Weeks, he's the sales manager. Tell him the guy who drove all the way from Florida last year to buy the black Lightning sent you.

D.C. area contains about 10 Ford dealers. I got mine at Tyson's Ford. Paid Sticker.

Am I stuck with paying sticker?

Curmudgen,

Did you try to pay below MSRP? Did you look at other dealerships?

Hawkeye,

What did you pay for your Lightning?

Thanks!

Howardje, DC area has two other SVT dealers. They are Crystal Ford off Route 29 in the big autopark and Sheehy Ford on 355 in Gaithersburg.

As of this afternoon, Sheehy Ford had a white 2000 Lightning for sale. They usually mark their new L's down $500 below MSRP.

I got my red 99 last year for $28K from Sheehy.

Sheehy advertises they are the biggest Ford dealer in the Wash. area. They appear to sell everything regardless below MSRP. I think they are interested in volume sales.

As for the "A" plan, apparently that is a Ford employee (and retirees?) discount plan.

Purvis Ford in Fredericksburg, VA had 3 L's last time I checked. They had a black, red, and white. They are about 50 miles south on 95 from DC. You can give them a call at (540)-898-3000

Hey Mr. BBQMAN. Al Gore has never closed his open exhaust. However, the biggest problem with his exhaust is that it is not horsepower output but some other kind of output produced by horses. And, if you are not careful, you will get it all over your shoes, if not higher.

Jim, they wanted full MSRP plus a $2,000 kicker, but I got it for $500 under MSRP.

Good Luck!

Jim,

Try Sterling Ford on Route 7 in Sterling VA.

and also,

Ted Britt FOrd on Rt 50 in Fairfax. (The service there sucks the big one). Find Miguel Rodriguez, thats who I bought mine from last year. Great guy that hooked me up with a lot of free extras...

We need more owners in the VA area, then maybe have a local chapter...

Good Luck with your hunt,

Cool

Good News!

I called Sheehy Ford in Gaithersburg last night. They had three on the lot and I bought a red one for 29,456. Their initial deal was $500 below.

I'll pick it up tommorrow night. Its going to make an awesome tow vehicle for my new Corvette Z06!

Howardje, good for you. I walked over to Sheehy and I think I saw your red truck. Got MD 45 day temp tags on it. Looks like they need to clean it up some. One thing I would recommend is undercoat. It keeps the noise down when stones fly up and hit the wheel well in the back. Also, it mellowed the exhaust noise a little. When I bought mine in Aug. 99, they put a paint protection on it too, and I have not had to wax the truck yet. It seems to give it a permanent wet like look. Suppose to be protection against UV rays, etc. Of course, Sheehy will want to charge you through the nose for this. Also, if you want, you can get Fords extend warranty at about $500 a year for up to four years. The price is probably negotiable. That, I believe is up to seven years/100000 miles warranty coverage including the standard 36 months/36000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.

I have to stop taking my lunch hour walks over to Sheehy. Besides the red Lighning, they had a black and white one. I am tempted to buy another "L".

After having seen in person Lightnings in all four colors, I am convinced red is the best color. And, that is coming from a guy who never would have thought of buying a red vehicle and who does not like the styling of Ford trucks (except the Lightning).
