Question New 2K rear-end jumps hard on 1-2 shift

Just pick up my Black 2K and only have 380 miles so far (breaking it in). But I couldn't help from jumping on Gas pedel at a street light. The rear end had severe wheel-hop during the 1-2 shift. Is this normal for this wheel hop on a up-shift? And don't beat me up I also drive a (gulp)98 Vette, but my Lightning will be fun car/truck for now.

I got on mine some tonight and it would not really bark the tires alot, i only have 82 miles on it so far, it seems fast but i hear people here barking 2nd. I am only Barking first if i am brake Torqueing it. Not sure what i am doing wrong, i am a pretty novice racer though.

Thanks
Jason

ASHENOR- This was the second time I jumped on the gas from a stop. The first time it was only 100 miles old with no noise or wheel hop but gave someone in a 99 Vette a side by side run till I slowed down at 60 MPH. The first time it was an up-hill grade and the wheel hop time was on level road (380 miles old) .

Question

Guys

I would love to know what your computer code is. A number of us have 2000's that perform well but dont Bark tires or spin from 0. I took it to dealer and asked about it but they found nothing wrong. It MUST be a difference in the computers

I will be confirming my computer code this weekend.

LIGHNING ROD, SILVER_2000_ ! -I will wait till after 500 miles to open it up again. Its hard to keep your foot off the floor. I'll find some level ground and use my ET computer on the window for a quick reading before try an track run. Should be a couple of days, but that Wheel hop at 1-2, I'll have to work on.

Hmm that is interesting about some of the 2000 L's. Let me know what you find out.

Remember, you are driving a vehicle with enormous low end torque that is very light in the *** end. If this is a problem, install Cal-tracs.

Mine spins like crazy from a stop.. It feels like it hops around a little too, regardless of surface. No chip either..Then again, it is a 99...

This is caused by tires being out of round. You can cure it by burning rubber off them until they are back within specs again.

Where do I find the computer code?

I Thought these machines cut fuel in four injectors during this time for shifting to prevent this from happaning. My tires spun at the light but when the 1-2 shift came my back-in was jumping with big time wheel hop. I'm not use to hot rod trucks, but want to make sure this is normal? My every-day driver is a Explorer and my Chevy is a stick shift.

The computer code is CUX2 for 2000 Bolts. Open the passenger door and look at the door jam at the front part of the door. There should be a sticker with CUX2 on it or CUX1 for 99's I believe.

My 00' wouldn't break em loose on the start unless I gave it a little brake to start. Now with the PSP chip, it will smoke'm (with slight wheel hop) on a punch from dead start with no power braking.

Ford may have taken some bottom end timing out of the 00's. There is a 4 cyclinder cut at WOT shifts, it can only be fixed with a chip (PSP or Superchip). Without a chip, you wont break'm loose at shift.

Hey Dave, where abouts in San Diego do you live? I'm up the hill in Ramona. There is a Rally here in Ramona on June 11th for a Fords and Friends Car show/picnic at Dos Pecos Park sponsored by the San Diego Chapter of Pickups Ltd. Let me know if your interested.

Red2000SVT- I'm right down the road in Sabar Springs, next to Poway. I just picked up the L Sunday and already have 450 miles. My e-mail is screwed up right now but should have it fixed tonight? dgonsal1@san.rr.com

I'll check my plans and let you know sounds like fun. How many L are around San Diego?

I've got 3400mi on my 2000 now (damn, only had it since March 24), and mine definately will spin the tires a bit if I nail it from a dead-stop.

The only time I've run into wheel-hop is when I'm heavy on the throttle over bad pavement. The truck DEFINATELY does not like pot-holes or uneven pavement when you're on the throttle hard...
