Saleen Truck

In my latest issue of MM&FF, it states that the Saleen Truck will be priced at about $35k and $40k for the supercharged version, in my opinion this isn't too bad considering it looks and resembles the concept lightning quite a bit, and it would be a good alternative to not getting the new lightning.

if you say so

in my personal opinion: no amount of convincing will persuade me to truly like this truck as a Lightning replacement.

hey...

you know what? Ford dropped the ball. There is a market for a truck like this, and at the proposed price, it's reasonable as hell.

I don't know what the production number is going to be but if 35-40k is where it comes in for a price, I think they will move quite a few. Especially for guys that were set on getting out of there Gen2 Lightning and into the new Gen3. If it creeps more toward 50k, then that could be different.

No, this isn't the 32 valve 500 hp lightning they proposed, but I think it boasts plenty of power and it looks pretty damn good. We'll see what happens.

I wonder what they are using for a tranny?

Curb weight is 5300lbs!!!!

NO WAY.

Talked to Saleen reps. at 3 different auto shows and they all said $50k plus for the s/c.

stock tranny with A saleen cooler and shift kit, comtrolled by the saleen programmed compueter.

They weigh 5300lbs. and are extended cabs. all of them.
Gen 2 lightning weighs what? 4800, 4900#'s
add a 200lb driver you're only a few hundred pounds heavier.

I'd LOVE if the lightning were extended cab. but not a 4dr HD.

Here's the website. It appears the price for the supercharged version will be high $40k MSRP.

If they build it as pictured I do think it's a better looking truck than the Rhoush. Would be something to consider down the road. If Ford bails completely on performance. The interior is really a strong point in contrast to our Gen2's just nice to see there will be some sort of Gen3 performance F150's. Artie

Art-Man and I looked at one last night - $46,800 or so.

Dyno sheet right in the windshield - 405 HP and 415 TQ, DynoJet.

Has a Whipple, 3V motor, extended cab, aftermarket wheels.

I just don't think the new body styles look as good as a Gen2... for a sporty truck anyway.

that's not a Saleen then...

Saleen made it's supercharger from what I've read...very different from anything else out there. Maybe a whipple core? But the entire plenum and intake style is drastically different. It has the crazy open circle with the red flaps that open and close on the top.

Sorry, but the truck has Saleen logos all over it and a "Saleen" section on the window sticker... Also, a Saleen logo on the dyno sheet ????
