This is a riot.....First he wanted proof,Now we are fudging time slips!! I love the stupid people who type their numbers into a calculator and expect them to pump out this exact #. You people crack me up! If it were that easy,Dont ya think all the companies would use this method strictly. Why bother even testing a truck at the track........Just punch in a few #s and go tell all your friends
Who threatned you family you big dinlo. If you dont believe us then no need to keep posting.Go somewhere else with your attitude.Or better yet come to my track and Ill show ya.By the way My truck wieghed in at over 4800LBS the night I ran.
I ran a 14.60 in my 99 silverado with just a chip/exhaust(cat back)/Thermostat.You wanna see that slip too.Ive got em all!
"Dont get mad get glad" and throw them chebies in the garbage

JohnnyLightning--Thats a great time and a fine running truck you have. Can you help me out and tell me what your truck weighs with you in it at the track? If you removed some weight, that's OK. Just tell me what your truck weighs in race trim. For some reason no-one on here knows where the scales are at the track they run at. If your truck weighs 4.9K or more, you are also making over 500 HP. Why do the dynos not reflect this HP on a stock truck with a chip and an air filter?

possibly the flat dyno runs, some have experienced have something to do with it. if you get up into the peak band quickly and stay there, you are going to do better in a quick 1/4 mile run than someone else who makes more hp, but does it going thru the traps.

Mad,

I'm not an expert by any means, but I think that the amazing torque that these trucks produce help offset the tremendous weight disadvantage that they have. Look at this dyno graph and you'll see that a nice flat torgue curve that probably is close to peak at around 2k (I know the graph starts at 3.5).
https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/002436.html

That combined with the fact that this truck is making around 400hp at the crank makes low 13's realistic given a good launch and the right track conditions.

ZorPrime--- Yes, I agree.. But its a mechanical device and not a magical mystery machine. The law of physics says a 400 HP, 4.8K pound, vehicle will not run 104 in the 1/4 mile in 13.0 seconds. Do you believe in the tooth fairy? Easter Bunny? etc?

MRBBQMAN--I agree about the powerband theory.
However HP is still torque X RPM/5252. It takes over 500 HP to propel a 4.9K mass of anything to a 104 MPH 1/4 mile. Its not a mystery or new science. The HP formula has been around for over 200 years. Gear ratios and powerbands have nothing to do with MPH in the 1/4 mile. Think about it. Its common knowledge that has been around for years. Ah Oh, I feel the personal attacks coming. I hope not.

REDHOTL----
Reaction time has ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING to do with MPH or elapsed times. I see you are dragstrip experienced.

Hey Mad, Sal here. Whatever you want to think, the trucks do as posted. My 99 weighs 4850 with me in it. Bone stock it ran 13.80@ 99 mph, with 313rwhp. I bet that doesn't work on the calculator either. My truck currently has only my PSP chip, filter, and Bassani exhuast, and runs on drag radials. It goes 13.20s@ 104 mph. And the Bassani didn't improve my ETs, it only helped my trap speed, so yes, my truck runs 13.20s with just a chip and filter. And that was starting with a 13.80 truck. Some trucks are running 13.5 and 13.6s stock, so they could drop to the 13.0 13.1 range with the same mods. Evan Smith just bought a white 00 and ripped off an amazing 13.20, bone stock. You want to tell Evan he's full of crap because that "does not compute"? I didn't think so. I really don't get it; you come here asking for times from these amazing trucks, then question the answers?! What's up with that? If you really don't believe the posted times, then I think it's time to put away the calculator, stop reading magazines, and get down to the track. 'Nuff said.

Cool

Mad: Those calcutators don't apply to this vehicle plain and simple. I've searched out 4 or 5 of them on the net and yeah, they say 475-510HP on this 4760lb+driver,fuel,etc vehicle. BS. The only factor that hasn't been brought up, but has to be factored in these calculators is drivetrain loss. It has been posted in here before that the L's drivetrain only loses 11.4%. Amazing, especially for an automatic.

This bunch here is pretty much an honest one and the BS flag has rarely gone up.
