Speeyuk, are you coming to our SVT get-together next friday night at Thunder Valley in Okla. City? We have a convoy coming from Tulsa if you are interested. Lemme know?

I think I was gonna follow the convoy of assorted cars from Tulsa. I don't have an SVT vehicle, I've got a '94 Thunderbird SC. I'm ordering a 2001 L when they open the books is why I hang out here. There are a bunch of GM and Ford guys coming to Thunder Valley this weekend.. I'm gonna try and go if I can.
Converting this to 1/8 times its about a 8.435 roughly. So far our best L has turned an 8.44 and thats with NO2. The best non squirted is 8.55 by 1BADTK. These are daytime runs. Night runs should be better, but not at your level yet. We'll keep trying. I'm stock and my best was last Friday nite and was an 8.92 which would be roughly 13.95. The best I could do during the last daylite session was a 9.1. I will have drag radials and Eldebrock muffler this Friday.

Speeyuk..You don't need an SVT to participate at all. Hell, I might show up in my 57? We are just trying to get together all the Hot Rods around the Okla. area for a night at the track. Some guys are gonna run the T&T but probably most of us will partake in quality B.S. time. Hope to see ya there. If you need info on the Tulsa convoy, let me know and I can fill ya in on the particulars..
Thanks, Mad`

Hey Noelvm, Sal here. Not to pick on you specifically, but your post is a good example of why you can't compare 1/8 mile times to 1/4 mile times. You said the best 1/8 mile posted here on the board was 8.43 from a nitrous truck, but my truck turns 8.41 - 8.43 in the 13.20-13.40 range. There are just to many things that effect a run between two vehicles to compare 1/8s to 1/4s. As for my truck, I have turned a best of 13.209 with our PSP chip, filter, and Nittos. The Bassani didn't help ETs, it just raised the MPH a bit. Oh, and BTW, my truck WILL be running consistant 12s with no juice by this weekend. I refuse to leave NY for the WFC running slower than 12s. I pulled out all the stops and I am using some new stuff I had in the works for marketing. If I do go 12s with these mods, you can bet that they will be available for all

Humm, 13.21 @ 104 in a 4900 pound vehile? My calculator says 501 HP. How can this be with a chip and K&N filter? Something is not right here. Am I missing something? Aren't Lightnings a mechanical device just like any other vehicle or piece of machinery? Is there something magical about Lightning's that I don't know about? Enlightnen me please without making threats against me or my family if you can.

Hi Mad:
Albert here!
I think you asked a good question! As most of you know, I drive a white 99 L.
I realize there are differences in vehicles,
differences in altitude, weather conditions...ETC.
But 13.0's with just a chip and K&N, Come on guys! I think you are fudging ..A Bit..
No flames intended here, just questions!
I have ran my truck at the track,
Best with the F1's was 13.58@100.55
Best with M/T's was 13.42@101
Backed that up with a 13.43@102
------------------
99.5 White Lightning
Superchip
PSP Filter kit
13.42@101.55

who posted a 13.0? the time slips seem ligit, maybe the trucks are lighter than advertised. i know some have had them weighed. maybe we should get them weighed at different scales and see what the deal is. this truck does not make sense on the HP calcs.

The Nova has a radio but I really don't care whether it works or not because I couldn't hear it anyway. The radio in the 57 works but who wants to listen to AM radio? I just find it hard to justify the HP levels required to propel a 4.9K pound vehicle with 360 RWHP (?) to 13.0, 13.1, 13.2, times with a chip and an air filter. That would be amazing even in Grand Nationals, Vettes, Cobras, etc. Yes, I have owned and raced all the aformentioned vehicles.
Someone enlighten me as to how a Lightning makes over 500 HP with a chip and air filter, PLEASE? No personal attacks please.
No testosterone slinging please. No bull***** please. Just explain, that's it.
Peace--- Mad`

Mad,
Put away your calculator. They only "walk the walk." When you see the time slips from the track that's when you "talk the talk."
Some of these guys are geared 4:10 I believe, something the calculator can't calculate.

Dunbarton-- If you had the slightest idea what you are talking about you would already know that gear ratio has absolutley NOTHING to do with Horsepower.

MAD, I just kind of glanced at the data presented here and noticed two timeslips from 98_SVT_Cobra 5/APR/ 8:48PM 13.458 et and .656 R/T . If that fellow gets lucky and launches at .400 r/t wouldn't that change his E/T to 13.458-.656 + .400= 13.202 ?? I don't think this would require one addional horsepower? Second time slip 5/APR/2000 13.218 r/t .628. Improve reaction time by .2 and yor have a 13.018. I am not trying to imply that the weekend racer can post reaction times of .400 at will only that it is possible and will occasionaly happen. Driver skill is part of the equation, and to me, the most interesting part of racing. Perhaps some of these great times are simply that a guy just has a great run. Thats whats its all about. Good luck at the track!
