Another JDM Rant...
Another JDM Rant...
JDM has done it again...I traditionally keep my bitches with vendors private but this one has completely set me off.
So I get crazy and decide to replace the True-Flow filter that I bought with a 12" S&B since a number of people have apparently had tuning issues with the True-Flows. The True-Flow is still in the box in my basement and has yet to go on the truck but I didn't want any additional headaches when I brought the truck up to Colorado this summer. Having purchased a good number of things from JDM in the past I figured I'd just get it through them. So I order the 12" S&B from their website and assumed, incorrectly so it would appear, that I would be getting "a replacement part for our Cool Air Induction Kits for Lightnings and Harleys, and includes the required Air Charge Temperature Sensor." This description is pulled directly from their website mind you...Replacement Filter. So I order away and at this point I will give kudos on the online ordering system as it's extremely easy to use. So a week or so later my box arrives and in it is a 12" filter that was still shrink-wrapped, hadn't been oiled and didn't include an Air Charge Temperature Sensor. Again, crazy me, I assume it's merely an oversight on JDM's part and the situation will be rectified with a simple e-mail or phone call. So I send the following e-mail to the tech@teamjdm.com address:
"I had ordered a replacement 12” S&B filter from you and according to the website it was supposed to come with the “Required Air Charge Temperature Sensor.” Mine only included a filter, still wrapped in plastic and no sensor to be found. Could you please re-send one to me at your convenience?"
Relatively simple and straightforward I thought...until I get this back:
"The sensor does not come with the filter unless you ask for one. They are $24 and it would be about $10 to ship it to you. Please let me know if you still want it and I can charge your card that is on file and send one to you. Sorry for the inconvenience."
Are you kidding me??? Not only does your website clearly state that it's included but now you want $10 shipping on a part that I apparently should have known that I needed to ask for and that weighs an ounce tops??? So with the $75 filter, the $24 sensor that's INCLUDED but not really included and a filter kit to oil the filter I'd be into this thing for $110-$115.
While I will give Jim credit for his motors, which seem to be some of the best out there, this little episode is complete and total BS and par for the course in dealings with JDM. If they made good on their completely false advertising I'd be cool with it, if they'd admit that they f'ed up and the website is wrong but took care of me I'd be cool with that or if they would have stated that the sensor was an additional cost option on the website I'd be cool with it. But to tell me that I needed to ask for a part that was specifically listed as included and charge an additional $24 is a crock of shyte. Hopefully this will prevent a few others from making my same mistake.

Instead of emailing them, why didn't you try calling them? I am sure all things could have been worked out over the phone in which it is usually better to speak to someone then using email correspondence in that type of situation.
Although i have had some issues with JDM telling the "truth" many years ago .I feel they do run a very legitimate business now. I would not be scared to buy anything from them anymore. The last few times I have delt with them, i have had good solid transactions.I think alot of the problem is people getting used to them actually acting like a business and not your best freind. When business grow, alot of times people feel they lose the personal touch that they might have recieved when the business was alot smaller.Basically the business realizes they need to make a profit and get tired of working their butts off for nothing but a pat on their back. Its actually the way it needs to be if you dont want to go out of business.I have seen many of the online tuners turn to this. Its hard to get used to but its the only way they are going to survive.
Your issue on the other hand seems like they need to step up to the plate and give you what you paid for.If it says it comes with the sensor then it should. If it is a mistake on the website then they should take a hit, give you the sensor for free and change the site to speak the truth. If you mis read it, thats different .I dont know i didnt look at it yet.
Ill tell ya, concidering all good and bad, we should all be thankful that there are actually choices for us.For some car owners you get parts that dont work, and NO customer service.

"This is a replacement part for our Cool Air Induction Kits for Lightnings and Harleys, and includes the required Air Charge Temperature Sensor. This S&B Air filter flows 40% more air than the stock air filter/air box assembly."
Nice to see there still selling the 4.6 water pump as a high performance part.
"JDM has chosen a high performance water pump which maintains Ford factory cooling specs "

Well the website does say "and includes the required Air Charge Temperature Sensor".
If it's their error on the website, they need to change it and give this guy a free sensor.

Regardless of any positive transactions and comments people may have with JDM, in this instance, they seem to be defenseless. I don't think sending an email should be faulted either. After all, he did not receive an automated response.
I learned about JDM by calling for a chip listed on their website(back in 2003)The price on the website listed the chip $325.00. I called them to place an order. Got to the credit card numbers and totals. He qouted me 375.00+shipping "your wesite sayz 325" This individual than sayz to my dismay...
"That is our old price, the website has not been updated."
I replied " Its not my problem that your wbsite is not updated, that is the price you currently advertise".
Regardless, that incident turned me bitter towards JDM. So I will NEVER put money into a JDM register knowingly. It could have been rectified if the person would have been not such a flake on the phone. To this day I have spent well over 9,000 on stuff for my L. If one person would have displayed some kind of business savvy, more than likey they could have netted at least 4 grand and at least one more satisfied customer.

huh
Well, I am still waiting for a response to a problem
with a $500 E-fan that I bought from them. So much
for "If you have any problems, Email us at JDMTECH", huh?

As far as this incident goes, they owe you a sensor. I'm sure if you called and get ahold of them, they'll take care of you, as well as take care of the error on the site.
It's gay when people come on here and over react about stupid ****. I can understand your problem, because I agree with you, but you have not even talked to anyone yet and haven't given them a chance to even make it right.
Call them and rest your neck already.
Hey Dan,
I read your email this morning and I didnt not know this is how you felt. The website says for the 12" replacement that it does come with the sensor for $75. We only charged you $65. Normally they are $65 with out the sensor. Thats why you were only charged $65. It was not specified that you needed the sensor or if it was Lightning or Cobra (Cobras dont get the sensor its in the maf). Again Im sorry for the confusion. I will send you a sensor to put in the filter. You need to drill or punch a hole in the filter on the black rubber boot.
So Im going to call you if I dont here back too soon, but Im going to send you a sensor free of charge. Cool? Sorry for any confusion and the best way to handle these things is to call. Email and posting can get confusing.
Cliff,
We tried emailing you back a couple of times with no success, I saw your post two nights ago and thought that the guys from here helped you, If you still need anything call and ask for me Jim Jr.
