Stupid Fog lights....
Well after reading all the posts on this subject I'm confused as to what we're calling the "covers." My "cover" (the flat front face on the fog light) just fell off the light on the drivers side.
I must be lucky because I have 26k miles on my 2k L!
The "lens," as I believe people call them, is the shiny part behind the "cover." I see no way the cover attaches to the lens, and evidently need to take a closer look.
Seems like a business opportunity to me - lesseee.... 5,000 L's per year x how many years?
Why don't we just fab our own covers from clear plastic we buy at a hobby shop?

The lens is the clear front cover of the fog light (glass in 99-00, plastic in 01-04). The reflector is the silver part in the back that the bulb sticks through.
This is a fog light cover:
Well, the original post is definitely an oldie. My '99 Lightning finally got two broken fog light covers after almost five years and 36k plus miles. Driver side cracked in several places and passenger side cover looks like it totally fell off.
Passenger side was okay afternoon of May 12 and was broken by afternoon of May 15. In that period I never used the fog lights (hardly ever do and never in bad weather) and hardly drove the vehicle at all. Both bulbs still function.
This thing with Lightning fog light covers is really weird. Dealer wants $100.00 apiece for each fog light kit, not counting the bulb.

order two lens's from texas mustang. cost me a total of 45 dollars shipped, comes with new bulbs doesnt really matter. The old lens's pop off and u just connect the new ones, took me 15 mins to install both and clean up. The connections dont fit perfectly as they are for old school mustangs, but nothing that a pair of plyers and a flat head cant fix. It's really easy, so good luck and search for the thread with the how to.

You can get the replacement lights for $65.00ea at 1aauto.com. Very easy to change out yourself.
