That is correct!

Well with the Monster box 4r70W There is a cheaper alternative. The stock Lightning block can handle about 450rwhp safely and so can a built 4r70w. In my opinion, if you aren't going with a built block don't do the whole swap. If you already have a 5.4 all you need is the upper setup like they sell on ebay all the time. If not you can pick up a low mileage JunkYard 5.4 fairly inexpensive will all you'll need. The little details can be had at Madenterprise.com.

Hey, I'm also looking at a powertrain swap in my 98 rc/fs 4x4. Does anyone have any links to projects? I stirred up the idea after seeing a damaged L going for 10k.

besides the driver side motor mount, was any other issues?

I imagine you would have to swap in the L eec for the proper program. and is it the same 10.25" sterling diffy? have to find a 4.10 8" gears for the front also.

Hey Mark, do you have a breakdown for your project? was it the whole drivetrain you swapped?

Yes, it is the whole drive train. Well, eventually will be after I switch the rear axle. Converting the transmission to mate with the 4x4 transfer case right now.

So far I have new longer torsion bars,4x4 tranny parts, different transmission mount, relocate oil cooler.......dead tired I'll finish list later.

Yes, but then I would have a 4.6 engine that is leaking antifreeze with 154000 miles on it with a mazda 5 speed......No Thanks! Besides that I now have an excuse to disappear from the house when the wife starts thinking up projects for me.

Question 02 L motor and stock 4x4

Can i get a motor from an 02 L motor to pair up with a stock 4wd transmission from a 99 f-150, by reprogramming the ECU or something? The stock Ecu runs the tranny, but not the motor and the opposite with the L ECu.Thanks

yes, you can use the F-150 computer, any good tuner can do this.

Not true, the ECU on both the L and F-150 are programmed to run both the motor and the tranny.
