Intake Pipe choices? Heatsoak an issue?

C&L, JL Thunder Pipe, AF1 pipe, PSP Pipe.
I'm trying to decide but will the material composition outweigh looks? I'm a Florida L owner and heat kills these things. I figure the C&L and AF1 are metal which will absorb underhood heat and raise the intake a charge a tad, whereas the JL and PSP are fiberglass which shouldn't conduct heat. Am I being retarded thinking like this? For looks I'd love a polished C&L, but if it's going to raise my intake temps even by just a few degrees, I'm going fiberglass. Anyone ever considered my theory?

Thanks.

Heatsoak an issue?

neglible, if any.

Splitting hairs IMHO.

I didn't notice ANY increase in IAT2 temps using a C&L pipe vs. the stock elbow.

Yes, I've thought about it too. That's the reason I don't really want to go with a C&L. I thought about doing a K&N FIPK because the intake tube is ABS. The polished finish will help reflect some heat away from it more so than the cast finish. I may crunch some numbers later and see what the temp rise in the tube will be assuming an ambient and underhood temp. Anyone know what the underhood air temps are? By the way typhoon, where in G'ville are you? I just grad. from UF three months ago.

I went with the Razors Edge; makes a nice smooth transition from the MAF to the TB.

But, the JLT is a nice part for the price.

I've had a C&L; it was heavy, didn't look very good, and the fit was worse than terrible. IMO Not to mention heat soak, and the blue couplers.

Snipe: I graduated UF in 2000. Still here out in Legacy at Fort Clarke.

Jeff's L: does the JLT tube come with all those couplers too? Looks MEAN.

I dont know what I just bought from Vinnie
But it seems to be fiberglass

THANKS VINNIE
EVEN KNOW YOU OVER CHARGED ME, hehehehehe......

Unfortunately even know I sanded it down quite well, the stupid paint I used seems to refuse to dry in this humidity, even after 3 days (^%@($%@($

I used this same paint on the Eaton and even weeks and weeks later if you touch it when it's hot, it's all tacky @$^%@($%(@$%@$(%@$(@$

AMOF seconds after I took this picture a dam bug got stuck in it, and I had to get it off with a dam razor and I screwed it up $@(@$%(*@$%@(*$%$@

Oh well I guess I'll strip it and try again....
Not even sure if it'll fit without any modifications yet, but unless this crap ever drys, I wont know

So Rob,
You got the bug high and it ran into your paint job???
Typhoon,
I had the C&L, but it doesn't work well with the JLP intake. I would go with the thunder pipe, it's angled correctly and won't interfere with the hood.
Just my .02
Bryan

That would be a Razors Edge pipe like I got. I just wonder what the extra rubber grommet is for? Either a nitrous nozzle, or to mount the IAT sensor there instead of at the filter.

What paint did you use? Also is that chrome spray paint? It looks good in the pic', but if it's not drying that's a problem.
