wow, what a difference

I'm driving the gen 1 this week while my family is away on vacation, and now I understand why my user name is slowsvt95.
No offense to the gen 1 guys, but I'm glad I finally went broke and bought a gen 2!
J/K, it's still a fun truck.

On a side note, I finally got the line mod installed on my L (Thanks JDM!!)... my truck shifts like an animal now.. and as Rob would say --WOO HOOOO

Just out of curiosity....?
Why did you go w/ Line Valve instead of the Valve Body
It's been quite the debate here at times....

Personally I bought the line valve soon after my L and then I installed the FTVB instead. I decided mainly after B-Man let me drive his w/ the FTVB.

BTW - The valve is still sitting in the packaging unopened.... free to a good home (Only if you look like Leanne though )

LeeAnn do you have anything done to your 95? I had a white 95 with a Steeda Stage 5 shift kit, Borla NASCAR cat back exhaust, turbo diesel inlet tube and Steeda underdrive pullies. I think it ran mid 14's. Some times I miss it but like you very happy I went to the Gen 2's.

On a side note I have had the JDM line mod valve in both my Gen 2's and by far one of my fav mods. My wifes grin goes ear to ear when she snaps second, especialy in front of the boys!

As with everything, everyone will have their own opinions and personal preferences. I actually have a FTVB also, but changed my mind and went with the line mod valve. I've heard good things and bad things about both though.

Nothing is really done to the 95. I planned on sinking money into it, but then I decided to buy the 04. I tried to get my father to mod it, but he'd rather spend $50k+ on a street rod... Can't blame him.

I'm glad to hear that your enjoying that Gen 1 Leeann. I was at work today & see a Sonic Blue Gen 2 Race past the Car Lot. I wonder who that could have been?? Anyways Leeann I know a guy who works in South River who tells me that you should never sleep on a Gen 1 because you never know what could be under the hood. Later Girl.

I agree, everyone has opinions...makes for some good debates and sometimes great entertainment

Maybe someone will try installing both at the same time to see what would happen. Now that would be cool thread to follow...

Enjoy the tire chirping shifts !

Art-Man, this is just my opinion so I don't want to start any flaming.

On my 2000 silver I went with the FTVB and the truck would not chirp second gear. It did firm up the shift but I could not get it to chirp second. So I installed one in my friends 2000 and we had the same result. I then ordered the line mod valve from JDM, took out the FTVB, and put in just the line mod. Next thing I know I am chirping second gear all over town! Put the line mod in my friends truck and he was able to chirp second as well.

Never got a clear reason why, but Gregg said many other’s with his VB could chirp second, so I don’t know! All I know is that JDM’s line mod gave me the result I was looking for.

Again just my opinion/experience.

the firm shifts are all well and good to a point.

I'm not trying to start any flaming either....My FTVB is touch & go...
I get hard shifts sometimes & others it seems to be a bit milder...
My friend installed the same unit in his & he shifts hard all the time.
It could be a multitude of reasons, the tranny itself, road surface, temp, how hard I'm into the throttle...anyways... I'm happy w/ my FTVB...while others love their line valves...Heck if I was not for the work involved in changing between them I might have given them both a try just to see the diff. between them.

Either... way, as always, it comes to personal preferences & opinions like Leanne stated.

Regards,
-Art

if you can't chirp second with an FTVB, you have problems with the valve body...
