Another Outrageous Performance engine bites the dust

Do you attempt to tune the AFR strictly through the OL fuel table, from which commanded AFR can never be actual AFR?

Thank you in advance for your insight on this matter.

Hold on, he's calling the tech line.

You know what bugs me, you have these guys who want you to e-mail them tunes just so they can have somebody read them and take what some of us have had to work very hard for! Now all of a sudden their the Super Tuner.then when they think they found something that no body has.they show forth their true colors!everything is a Secret! LOL!
Thats why i'm very cautious to what i e-mail and to whom..Trust me you find out quick in this buisness who your TRUE Freinds are and those who are all for themselves!..Dog Eat Dog World Brother!....JL

I sure didn't get a tune from you and send it to another tuner. Hell, I was using you for tuning AND I bought a SB from you in December. And I think Clint also got his tunes from you seeing that he bought a LB from you! So don't get your panties all up in a wad with me, Johnboy. And don't accuse me of giving away your tuning secrets.
As I stated earlier, you could not fix the tune with my truck. This was after how many - a dozen tries? And how many retune dollars because you stated you were spending too much time on this to do it for free? I can't say how many times you tried to help Clint. As luck would have it for me, I ran into a guy tuning Cobra's at a local dyno. He didn't ask for your file and I didn't give it to him. Why would he want it? To see what you were doing that didn't work? LOL. I emailed him my base tune just like I did for you back in August 2004 when I first started dealing with you. He sent me a tune that FIXED WHAT YOU COULD NOT and I dyno tuned with him later that week. Can you understand that? It was not your tune - he probably didn't even know who you were. I turned Clint on to him after that.
And why have I had 8 emails from people wanting to know who to contact to get this fixed for them if it's so isolated? Some mentioned your name, too.
And I still don't get this: if you KNEW all along how to fix my and Clint's problem WHY DIDN'T YOU DO IT? Why would you keep sending tune after tune and claiming that the only way to fix this was to ship the truck to you? Why? I know the answer and so do you: you didn't know. So just swallow that down and admit it, Johnboy.
And finally: it was not in the MAF Tranfser Function. It was, in fact, too much spark retard at tip-in. There you go.
You're a class act, Johnboy. See you at LF.
Robert
Wow, I read the thread a bit further and see some good info by silverzz28. Maybe this thread is looking up.
After buying the SCT PRP, I went through (and still am going through) the learning curve. I would agree the MAF transfer curve is the most critical piece. Trying to tune other parameters without getting that one dead on or close is a waste of time. Datalogging is essential - there's only one way to even get close to tuning a motor with heads and cams without datalogging: the tuner has to have a repository if base tunes for similarly tuned vehicles. Otherwise, it can't be done unless you get in the ballpark and then fine tune using data (short term fuel trimss, etc).
The base tune I got from SCT got me in the ballpark but I had to work with that curve after several datalog sessions. After that, I worked on the tip-in retard to get rid of that hesitation. My head/cam combo doesn't like lots of retard.

JL, are my questions possibly over your head? Should I rephrase them any?
I would be more than happy to help you learn how to tune, even in person. I do not charge very much, and I am positive we could bring your level up to be on par with the best.

I enjoy your sarcastic whit, but I feel that you're going overboard with it on some post's, especially when you label every JLP post. Almost like stalking someone. Call John up and work it out, I'm sure that will give better result's than slamming him here on the board's!
Just my .02,
