32V Twin Turbo 5.4L Project - Pics and Commentary
I think some of you know I started taking my truck apart the weekend of May 18th. I got it on jackstands, removed all the exhaust, and a few top end parts. A buddy did some misc stuff, drained and pulled the heat exchanger and IC pump. The airbox, plenum, blower, and IC resevoir and lines all came off then, as well as a few other misc pieces.

I took the passenger NAVI exhaust manifold, flipped it over, and bolted it right up on the passenger side head to test for clearance. It fits great. There may be a tiny amount of clearancing (1/16 - 1/8") needed on the corner of the a-arm mount where the manifold outlet is.

The angle and position of the manifold will work great.

Looks like plenty of room for the downpipe to route back through as well.

The drivers side is a different story, but won't take much at all to work. The biggest issue is the big hunk of ABS stuff in the way. I will either just extend the brake lines and move it up to the stock airbox location, or remove it totally and put it on the shelf.

I made some measurements and looked at where I could mount and route my Intercooler and plumbing as well.

Hey Shawn - looks good so far!!
Not to scare you, because I don't know, but....
I was under the impression that the DOHC heads were wider in both directions - toward the intake and the exhaust. If that is the case, that is going to chew up some of the clearance you have mocking it up against the SOHC heads. Have you put a tape across the DOCH vs. the SOHC to compare the width - exhaust flange to exhaust flange?

Actually now that you mention it, I was mixing your truck up with Odin's Wrath.. my mistake. I do remember you selling your wheels a while back. Did you not like the ride of the 22's or was there less performance or something. I only ask because I plan to purchase a set soon. Thanks,

HI!... Are you sure???? A 4.6 2 valve (SOHC) is 25.5 inches wide.
A 4.6 4 valve (DOHC) is 30 inches wide.
That's a 4.5 inch difference in width. I know I gave dimensions for the 4.6 SOHC/DOHC but since the 4.6/5.4 used the same heads, a DOHC 5.4 should also be 4.5 inches wider than a 5.4 SOHC. A guy I know has a 5.4 DOHC in his NAVIGATOR and it is a LOT wider than my 5.4 2 valve SOHC. Also the DOHC uses a OVAL exhaust port where the SOHC head uses a ROUND one.

The manifolds that he has pictured are the oval port Navigator manifolds.
Also there might be a very slight overall difference in the width of the two engines but not 4.5". The big valve covers of the 4V give it a wider look.
