Exclamation Anybody notified yet?

Anybody received a notice from this latest recall? I haven't yet for my '99 but it's probably too early. When you do, let us know.

I just got of the phone with my local Ford/SVT dealer (Purvis Ford) The recall - there asking people to come by and they will fix it. Now as for the Lightning's they asked me to come by so they can disconnect it and order the part 2 weeks or more to get it in…

You got to love it....

You have to understand that there are over 4 million vehicles being recalled and everybody wants to get in done now. Give them a break. If you don't want the hassle, unplug your switch and get it done next month when the rush is over.

Got mine today

Got the recall notice in the mail today for my '99. It said I can get it disconnected now and the new part installed in November.

Interesting. Got my recall letter today for my 97. I used my cruise control for the first time in months last week and it blew the #13 fuse, locked the xmission and got the 16-blink ABS light. Disconnected the leaking switch and taped it up. Lucked out, I guess, as I hadn't paid any attention to this thread.

I tooked mine in last week. After the idoit that puts the plastic on the seat and the paper on the floor laid my door against a rough stucco column (F*CKING A**HOLE). I hate taking my truck to the dealer. My service writer unplugged and taped the switch. He was telling me that they are going to put a fuse in which is not going to totally fix the problem. He claims the main problem is the switch that he disconnected is known to start leaking brake fluid which is causing the fires. This line needs to be fused but I think it would be a better design if the cruise was tied to the brake light switch or somewhere else. Has anyone tried this?

Have you asked Mildenhall Auto Centre? www.mildenhallautocentre.co.uk - I'm told they used to do warranty work on Ford US vehicles

Yes it is the switch, ford disconnects it and puts electrical tape around it, I just got the retro and they put in an in line fuse, I asked about the switsh and he told me thet the latest version is to just put in the fuse, it is plug and play, it takes five mitutes, they said if the switch is leaking they will replace it, this is in California, I do not know if other states are different.

Unhappy Burnt SVT

Well, I have just had the worst day of my life. It started out this morning when the neighbor was banging on the front door, and I ran out to find my 2004 svt Lightning on fire. My neighbor is a fireman and already had my hose hooked up and was spraying the cab. Before the fire dept. got there it burnt almost all the way to the ground. It had to have started under the dash, something electrical. It had been sitting for 12 hours without running. I have only had this trruck for 1 1/2 months. I also had my wallet, 2000 in cash (that I won at the casino) and the only other set of keys to my Lincoln LS in the cab. All up in smoke. Coincidence or maybe not. I don't think they recalled enough. I would post pictures, but it is asking me for a url link and I don't have my own web page. Unless someone else knows how to post without one.? Does anyone else know of this happening. I heard it was only 2000, 2001 models.

The 2004 has the new style switch. ALL vehicles can catch on fire due to electrical systems. This is common to all brands. The switch is unlikely to be your issue.
