You seem to be as well respected around here as anybody since I joined the forum last year, and I truly feel bad for you and your dealings with this turd. I hope your dealings with this guy ruin him and prevent others from making the same mistake. Posts like this make me sick and I wish you all the best in your efforts.

Thanks, those words really mean a lot to me. I appreciate.

My Snap-On tool guy has put me in touch with a local Hi-Performance motor builder that has experience with Modular Motors(wish I knew this a year ago). I need to talk with him and set something up for a tear down of the bottom end with photos, then it will be time to take legal action for every last penny I can. Everyday I think about how I got bent over it just makes me sick that someone could do business like that and still be able to sleep at night. -Mat-

Thanks for the support everyone!

Matt...I'm in Wallingford.

I believe I pulled up next to you on the pike about a year ago.

I've been reading about your dilema. I feel for ya. If you ever need a hand I'm a field service tech for Detroit Diesel/Allison with a truck full of tools, lemme know I'd be more than willing to help out. RTAGT@Hotmail.com.

Congrats on the new motor and good luck!!

Ryan

Hell, I can put a motor together, but I know it probably would not last as long as one built by a pro engine shop. Sorry for all your trouble, tuff way to learn. Hope you get it straightened out.

JLP isn't a engine builder, He gets his short blocks assembled and heads done from a machine shop.

Don't pretty much all the Lightnings vendors contract out their engines? I often wonder why more people dont look to the mustang world for GOOD engine builders. For instance Boss 330 racing. They have built some of the fastest Mod motors in the world. Al Papito is running 10's in a NATURALY ASPIRATED 5.4 mustang. They have a huge head start and way more experience than so called lightning tuners. Not to mention it wont cost you 12,000 for a long block like some places I know.

I was at No Limit Motorsports in Atllanta yesterday for a dyno day and the owner "Mike" said he builds a 5.4 L motor for $3,000 with all the good stuff inside(CP pistons, etc.) . Killer deal.. Heads are $1,300 ported , bigger valves, etc. Cams are Comp Cams for $550.00...

Great prices...He had in his shop a NMRA/FFW Pro 5.0 car, 1 FFW Street Renegade 4.6 Mod motor Procharger car, a NMRA Super Street Outlaw car to name a few.

Sorry to hear the bad news brother, I thought for a while about who I was gonna get to build mine, I finally decieded on a Mustang builder in Brandon, Fla. Good luck bro, all I have to say is take pics and document the breakdown with at least one well noted engine builder.

Even though the machine shop work is almost always farmed out,
the initial and continuing R & D is primarily done along side with the vendor at the reigns with their ideas passed on to the contractors. Nobody would be able to afford these engines if the vendors had to perform the machining as well as the assembly. They find someone that knows their work and they move on. Usually the assembly is done at the vendors location with their own secrets as to the magic they perform. The rest is in the tune.

I never said JLP built his own motors.

PS: DL will you stand behind your clunk washers? The clunk has returned! I still have to pull them out to see it they are worn or broke.

How's your truck running? Ever get your paint fixed when the transport co. scratched it up? What kind of discount did John give you on your heads? I heard they flowed pretty good. Are you going to be selling since you took off JLP's parts?

Mat,
IMHO you need to tear down the motor, document all of the shoddy workmanship and take his a$$ to court. Crate the engine so it can be taken into the court room. This way your witnesses that are subject matter expert engine builders can highlight the shoddy workmanship for all of the jury to see (you need to try and get some media coverage on this to). I would sue for about $75,000.00. I don't know you or him but from the post that I have seen from both of you, as a jurror on a jury, you would have $75,000.00 in your pocket. Good luck and I hope you get some justice!!!
There is no jury in small claims court??? Why would you sue for $75,000??? He should sue for what he has paid so far and then a little extra for headaches and issues along those lines. The judge is going to ask for receipts, so if that 75,000 isnt supported... the judge might disregard the amount. I know Mat had a lot invested in the motor... but i dont think it was close to $75,000... if it was OUCH!

I wasn't talking about small claims court. I doubt Mat could sue for what is actually owed him in small claims court as it would exceed the limit. But your right, $75,000.00 is extreme. As usual I was little fired up when I posted. I just hope Mat gets some justice.

Somebody throws a ton of schitt at you, and charges an arm + leg
You throw a ton of Schitt at them, and take back an arm and leg

Did you see that Myth Busters last night, well they made this catapult and ...

Sorry to hear that, hope you like the new engine from JDM! When I build high performance engines I send out the machine work to a guy that builds race engines for NASCAR & NHARA, then I build them my self. If its a stock build I take to Flowers (NAPA) let them do the machine work than I build it. So far so good.
JDMs engines are tops!

P.S. Get that baby in there!!!

no way

i would put the old engine on my tailgate............back up like a mother ****er toward his front door and jam on the breaks!!!!!

No way i would let this go. I would make this guy pay. The bottom line is he's trapped like a rat and only digging a hole deeper in the community.

A smart buisness man would refund Matt his money, take back the motor and use what he can off and stop the bleeding.

As far as i can see.......Outragous Performance's name is already tarnished and he's gonna loose alot more than what he would loose by taking care of Matt.......

Just make good and let and go and get on with your buisness.
