i see three times as many harleys around here as lightnings. they made more harleys than lightnings, period. if you are trying to say there are less two tone harleys, then a direct comparison would be they only made 1,198 black L's on 02.

your logic is a little flawed there.

Hmmmm? Seems odd that their is that big of number on the Harley's, as I see very few of those around, and see many more Lightnings. On shear visibility, I would say the Harley is more rare.

OK back on topic..

700hp = 12.1 in a dodge.
700hp = 10.? in a ford.

Is it really that difficult?

the SRT10 dodge might have had a bad driver.....low bottle....did we dyno it to 700hp...?.... blah,blah.

OK back off topic.....

I enjoy the lightning ...but I never gave production numbers much thought until this thread ...Ya its a fun truck ...but I gotta be unique ......I dont want something everyone else has......I'll sacrifice fun to own a "one of a kind" in my town.

now that I look around here in S.A. I see lightnings on every corner...and some sitten in driveways on four flats...

I want to be special....hmmm let me think....I could buy a Prowler ...I see more SRT10 trucks than I see Prowlers...I could buy a H.D. .....nawwww I see more of them than I see Lightnings
.....I got it.... I'll buy a 1990 SS Chevy truck...

You guys are funny, When the Lightning 1st hit the streets, I remember Rick(Amazon) and Sal(PSP) trying to get into the 12s. If Im not mistaken Sal was spraying like a 125 shot and Rick had a lower pulley made(Not sure how much boost) these guys were trying and trying for 12s, Also if my memory is correct both these guys were running 13-2-13.3s at FFW Bradenton in 00. My only point here is it takes time, it took 4 years for Sal to run 10,5 years for JLP to run a 9 and just last year a 11 was something only a had full could run. Now a 11 is no big deal,JDM has 1000s of 11 Sec Trucks

Give the truck credit where credit is due, it might be 500HP but its also at least 500lbs heavier than our trucks, I still say the Gen 3 might be 500HP but a 500HP Gen 3 will be slower than a 500HP Gen 2 and the Gen 3 is going to be over 40,000 too.

So 38,449 total...

That makes sense, I see HDs all the time. Not too many of the old 2000 MY supercabs though. I don't think those (or the non-supercharged 2001s) were very desirable after the supercharged version came out.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't hte VIPER the OLDEST vehicle in the dodge line=up, debuting in what '1991-1992'ish.
So the drivetrain has been around 7-8 years LONGER than the Lightning.

So if you put it in a pickup, simply copy the mods to get the power and put slicks and traction bars on it.

What they need to do is start copying our trucks, traction bars, slicks, and other tricks to get it to hook up.

ALSO, the GEN 3 lightning is going on a diet. It will surprise you with the final weight numbers.... STAY TUNED>

I wish there were other Lightnings in my town. It gets boring talking to ricers.

I need to move to Texas. Everyone out there must have an L and I'd like to join a club like TALON. If anyone near TN want's to have a mod party, I'll buy the wings and beer.

All this talk about the SRT-10 and the Lightning is rubbish,

the bottom line is they are both mean trucks.

I prefer lightnings because they can do almost just as much as a SRT-10 and cost 20 thousand less

Some people might like the Dodge more,

its really up to the person who is buying the truck.

i would give respect to the guy driving the dodge just because its the nice thing to do.

cant we all just get along?!?!?

Man has this thread gone crazy. I think I'd just simply say that if I spent the money to buy an SRT-10 and the additional money for a 200 shot and only ran 12's, I'd be dissapointed.

It'd be like when I bought the 12 sec. Lightning in a box stuff from JLP, I was expecting to make the 400 / 500 club. I did and was happy.

A 200 shot and 12's wouldn't make me happy.

That is the dumbest comparison Ive ever read, your speaking apples and oranges. Your comparing a 3000# purpose built vehicle to a Pickup with a high performance driveline. The Viper did come out sometime in the early 90s and it was 500HP, its progressed and thats all Im saying. Just like the Viper progressed into 500HP/500TQ and the Lightning has progressed from low 13s with pullies or N20, the SRT10 will progress as parts and trial and error take its course.

Ive driven both and the SRT10 is not as bad a truck as you guys make it to be. It will kill a stock Lightning and other than traction issues, it will give the average modded(Pulley&Chip) Lightning a run for its money. Before you cry that its also $15000 more than a Lightning, the Dakota RT guys did the same thing when the Lightning first hit the streets in early 99.
