Ram SRT10 runs 12.1's with a 200 shot !!!!
To funny as one of the girls and the first one to come up on the extremebabe link is a customers girlfriend.
The 60 ft. was terrible so the truck can do 11's. As far as a 200 shot goes, who knows how well the kit even works and how well the guy can drive. I see Vipers ranging 1-2 seconds difference with the same mods as the cars are hard to drive perfectly. Remember that the Dodge has a stick and can't be driven as easily and consistantly as the L auto overall.

Not to get off the topic, but going with the bang for the buck...
What are the regular cab Hemis selling for? Have any been KB'd yet? Times and price?
Just interested. Hemis are a dime a dozen, I don't even think twice if one revs on me.
Just curious as to the potential of those trucks...

The Hemis are no real threat. Reading on the SRT Ram forum a modded Hemi can run very close to a stock SRT-10 on low end but when they get a little closer to top end the Hemi will fall on its face. That is with the more popular Hemi mods. I have yet to even hear how they perform with a blower.
As for the SRT-10 Ram its self, Great looking truck IMO, but for 120 HP more than my truck and a 6 speed over my 4 speed auto the SRT is a huge dissapointment. I believe it was Motor Trend a few months back that tested the SRT-10 at only .2 quicker then the Lightning. For the drivetrain diffrences I would expect a constant full second diffrence maybe even more. But the fact of the matter that the SRT can even handle a 200 shot is impressive in its self IMO. But who am I to say, right?

You can't consider a 200 shot to be a lot if you look at the application at hand. The motor is 8 liters and 10 cylinders. So the the extra power to each cylinder is very minimal in comparison to an L. I believe this was mentioned somewhat on the first page, so that person is correct.
Am I the only one that notices a 500hp Truck with 200hp worth of nitrous,(700hp overall) only runs 12.1 ???? Thats kinda sad to me..hell 700hp in a Lightning is 10s all day, in not faster.
so you didnt get a Lightning that wound up at about what 4300 this year............yet you bought some other ford with a 5.4 Triton in it. I GUARENTEE whatever you bought was massproduced and more than 40,000 of them were made this year. Nice point
Where do you live? Lightning central? It is, for the most part, very rare to see a Lightning let alone a lot of Lightning’s in any one area unless of course you’re attending a FFW somewhere. On average I may see 1 Lightning every 4 – 6 months if I am lucky. On the other hand I see Mustangs and 5.4 F150’s all the time. I have seen 2 SRT-10’s in the last 3 months therefore both trucks are quit rare. I have been asked approx. 6 times now by different people if my truck came this way from the factory. I then have to explain that yes it did and what a Lightning is and the few who have seen the blower just about refuse to believe it came from the factory this way.
There is indeed more Lightning’s on the road then SRT-10’s but you are very wrong to think for a minute there are all over the place because the logical facts just don’t back that up…

since i have a novi blown dodge v-10 with a 200 nitrous shot, i can tell you, it is very difficult to tune for nitrous on the dodge motor. remember it fires 2cyls at once, so it runs and sounds like a big 5cyl. i've heard the 8.3L is forged, but have had a hard time documenting the exact internals. does anyone have a link?
200 shot
no matter how you slice it, a 200 shot of juice is no joke. That may equate to a minimum of a 125 shot on our trucks running 2 less cylinder. That is enough to take out a stock motor or tranny, and we KNOW this for a fact. My buddy is putting 650 ftlbs to the rear wheels with a 6lb lower and a 50 shot. How much is the tranny rated for?? How much is that dodge tranny rated for?

I live right near Heffners performance witch is one of the top 3 viper builders in the country. I been to his shop on many ocassions to witness blown and turbo cars in action and while I was talking to him he mentioned that the 01+ ? was no longer forged!!
Maybe they switched back for the 05 body style or maybe just for the trucks??

Sorry to dissapoint ya but a name is just that. I have a 2003 Two Tone Harley. There were only about 5k, if that, produced in the Two Tone color. Generation 2 Lightnings have been out for 6 years now, with production #'s running from around 4,000 to 7,000 a year! I dont' know the total # of lightnings in the country, but i would think it would be safe to say around 30,000. So, next time, check around before you GUARENTEE things.
Must be Lightning Central! I'm glad you live in a place where there are only a few lightnings to be found. The county I live in has about 15,000 people...not that big of a place at all! In this one county alone, there have been up to 14 Lightnings at one time. Right now, i know of 11 that are still here. I can almost guagentee you that if you ride through Vidalia, Georgia, you will see a Lightning every time. Heck, my brother had an 02' Lightning and got rid of it because it got where you couldn't turn your head without seeing one. Once again, be glad it isn't like it is here.

If you asked me they should of made 100,000 of them. I wish everytime I tuned a corner I could wave to a fellow owner. Its such a shame the ford made a well priced sport truck.
What they should of done is added a few more ponies, took away any of the towing abilities and added 300# more weight to it. THEN only make "limited amounts" and charged $45,000-$50,000 for it!! Then it would of been special
Just fyi for yall. I helped install a 300hp NX direct port kit on a 99 viper with stock internals. So it can hold the power.
The srt-10 is the badest production truck right now, no doubt about that,BUT only running a 12.1 on a 200hp pill? which is probally a 200hp rwhp pill so you are talking over 750flywheel hp, that is PATHETIC! Although im sure if he puts 18's on it with some good sticky nittos he could drop some e/t for sure.
Either way, not impressed.

4,000 to 7,000 a year!! WRONG the most that was made was the 01 and it was only 5,XXX. Some year less then 4,000 were made. Most years averaged around 4,000 units so a total of 20,000 over a 6 year span were produced.
ByByBird,
here's a little information for you to go over. I was a little off with 7,000, but i was estimating and i would have to say that 6,381 is closer to 7,000 than 5,000. I wasn't trying to start anything on here, just stating how this forum was once useful for informational purposes, not bashing everything that doesn't have a Lightning badge on it.
Total Generation II Lightning’s built:
1999 – 4,000
2000 – 4,966
2001 – 6,381
2002 – 4,726
2003 – 4,270
2004 – 3,781
Total – 28,124
I keep lookin' for an SRT 10 but have never seen one on the street. I have seen a black one sitting on the lot. Stopped and looked at a Black Rumble Beee once....was nice. With a Blower it might even be fun.
But mostly each of these Dodges need to be lowered.
If they are as fast as the Trans Am I toyed with last week they would get me grinnin'.
Yeah stock for stock they may take my L...but it ain't stock and I brung what I run....or something....
I think the Dodge looks good....I grew up in the Muscle Car era...I love most hot rides....
bikes ..cars..trucks...mopeds...go carts and
skateboards....
I paid 28,000.00 for my 01 and I feel like it will be with me for a long long time....
I was sitting at the Shell station the other day and a 1967 Camero pulled up....it sounded very mean..I told the dude it sounded good. He said..open the hood if you want. It had an old 409 in it with a 4 barrel....headers...cams and head work....it had a black vinyl top. Auto tranny...Looks great.
I heard a comedian express it well.....
America is the greatest ccounrty in the world...so if you are from say Italy....even though you Know America is the Best and Greatest Country in the world....
They get tired of hearing about it....
But I never get tired of sayin' it.......

That's funny. I remember when one time someone acused 54Triton's old F-150 of being a Lightning poser and he said "I bought that truck because I couldn't afford a Lightning" and now he says he didn't get one because there are too many of them. Sorry but if you liked a vehicle and thought about getting it, I don't think something like there being too many of them would be a diversion.
WideOpen03SVT,
look at previous post i have made. I have always loved lightnings and have had nothing bad to say besides there becoming too pletiful and that a lot of lightning owners aren't what they used to be. When i bought my 01 f150, there were not that many lightnings around this area. It's only been in the last year and a half to 2 years that they have shown up everywhere. Heck, there was less than 9,000 every produced when i bought my truck which wasnt' that many at the time. I could have picked up my brothers 02' Lightning if i had wanted and been making the same payments (with his being used) but they were starting to be too plentiful. I still love lightnings and love going to the track and watching how awesome they really can be. There are just too many of them around now for me to want one. I'm not changing my story and never will. I wanted a lightning a couple of years ago (and prior to then). Now that i am able to afford one, I chose not to get one because of the number of them around my area. No pun intended.
