We do the average mods and it put's us in the mid to high 12's depending on the tune, without juice. Then add the juice and were still a head of the game. We didn't pay $45K+ and still have the cheaper, best looking bang for the buck truck, with or without mods. It can perform truck duty. Where the SRT Ram is a Viper with a truck shell.
Who would pay that much for a truck and not get your $$$ worth in quality and performance is beyond me. Plastic slave cylinder on a 500hp engine? No wonder their is no clutch warranty. I'm not happy about Ford's quality right now, but I didn't pay $45K. Makes me feel better about my piston slap.
Put the cost of the truck, cheater kit and the rest of the mods down on paper, add it up and it's still in the 12's? That blows big time!
It's already a wounded duck from the factory. Crapy clutch, crapy slave cylinder, and crapy shifter to help miss 3rd gear shifts. Hard to launch and you have to mod it to compete with a slightly moded L. Racing them with a moded L isn't sporting IMHO.
DCX sucks on my exhaust pipes on a weekly basis around here from all the HEMI truck owners that have been fooled into believing their truck is something special. Sheep targeted by a good marketting campaign.

The GERMAN running DC started it by saying MONTHS PRIOR TO the SRT Ram's release, it was a lightning killer. Is it? That's a matter of speculation and opinion. I have seen more L's stomp on the SRT Rams when it should be the other way around. Customers are loosing most of the races, do to that **** poor design of a shifter, clutch assy and lack of traction. Yeah! It's worth $45K..LOL
Look at the chevy SS. Nice looking truck. It doesn't compete and it's $40K. IMHO, that truck isn't worth that $$$. I'm just calling it like I see it. I didn't knock the C6 Vette did I? That is a nice ride and priced right. I hope SVT takes the same avenue with the Gen 3 L & 07 Mustang High hp version. Still has not been offically named as a Cobra!
Your not going to hear the Toyota truck owners complaining all that much when their perfromance version comes out. That one will be competition. It will be fast, get gas mileage. You can bet on it. I'll talk well of it, I'll hate it. I know it will have quality and still perform the basic functions of a truck. I've evaluated enough of their vehicles over the years to know they know how to copy and improve other manufacturer's designs. They will have learned from the Lightning more so then DC.
The SRT RAM is all hype for the dough. Appreciate that thing? When it can perform like a truck at the same time perform as well as a Lightning, I'll give it KUDO's. DC couldn't do both. Couldn't engineer a truck to tow, take a heavy payload, have good handling and be a 1/4 mile racer.
They had to eat crow. Too many of the reviews said the SRT was a tire shreder but can't perform the basic functions of a truck. Hence the new extended cab version with an auto, 4:56 gears to make it feel like it has some KICK! Eat some more crow DC.
They couldn't engineer a regular cab to do what a lightning does and it forces them to go to use a second truck line. What's that say about their engineering?
From what I hear, the Gen3 will exceed the current L's cargo load, towing and performance for less. Now if Ford engineers can do it. Why couldn't the DC boys??
I'm loyal to Ford. As ticked as I am at them. They gave us the best bang for the buck! I'm fixing the little stuff on mine, tie-rods, clunk and a few cheap interior quality issues. I won't buy a new vehicle from them the way things are going in engineering.
The current L's 6yr old powertrain and chassis is still a match for their best newly engineered truck. Kinda sad.
As to cutting down the other competitors? Who cares? I'm on a Lightning board. They cut us down on theirs. I'm just having fun on here getting their goat, just stirring chit up. They read this forum like I read theirs. IMHO, the truck really isn't worth what DC is asking for it, Viper P/T and all.

AMEN BROTHER!!!!! Dang man, a lot of you lightning owners truly do think your crap don't stink! There are other sport trucks on the market today and some may cost more than others. It's all about preference. To be honest with ya, i would rather have an SRT-10 anyday over a lightning because everywhere you turn now, there's a lightning. Thats why i didn't get one because there are too many of them. Some people would rather pay the extra $$ just to have something you don't see everyday, everywhere!

I happen to like everything about the SRT 10 "except" the Mac Truck Front End (OK and the weak 4 Speed). Personally I think Dodge should use the other (smaller) Truck Nose thay have.
But I have NO BAD to say about the Motor, to tell you the truth I most likey will buy a used Viper some day because I've alway wanted one, and almost bought one before the L.
And YES that motor can take up to 200 Nitrous HP, and in a REAL VIPER will run 10's on it, NO PROB

Am I the only one that notices a 500hp Truck with 200hp worth of nitrous,(700hp overall) only runs 12.1 ???? Thats kinda sad to me..hell 700hp in a Lightning is 10s all day, in not faster.

Unless they take all the Gen II Lightning’s off the road the Ram owners will never have bragging rights to the best performance truck. They have bragging rights to maybe the second best performance truck but they have yet to meet the bar set by the Gen II Lightning’s…
Oh well, Dodge tried and Dodge failed, perhaps they will have better luck on the next try…

12.1 on a 200 shot on a viper motor isn't impressing me, street tires or not. It's a nice truck but I agree with Rob, the nose is horrid. Not to mention it sits WAY to high.
You know , i wonder how much of a difference the top speed would have been if they tested an 04 lightning with the 355's in the rear like us earlier model guys have. I know for a fact that they will do over 150 mph because my old man has done it. Stayed next to a bmw or something 0n 95 once. After they were done narrowly escaping death and managing not to kill anyone else, they met up. The guy said he was doing 155 when he abandoned it and my old man said his speedo was buried and the guy was just pulling away from him, as he let off, he said it felt like the truck cut out, maybe a rev limiter or a speed governer.

A 200 shot???!!!!!!!! Absolutely unimpressive if it takes a 200 shot of juice to go 12.1's. Yes the MPH is impressive but still.........a 200 shot!!!!!!! It should go 117 with 500 hp and a 200 shot on top. Sorry but I am not nearly as impressed as the rest of you.

On average I may see 1 Lightning every 4 – 6 months if I am lucky. On the other hand I see Mustangs and 5.4 F150’s all the time. I have seen 2 SRT-10’s in the last 3 months therefore both trucks are quit rare.
I have been asked approx. 6 times now by different people if my truck came this way from the factory. I then have to explain that yes it did and what a Lightning is and the few who have seen the blower just about refuse to believe it came from the factory this way.
There is indeed more Lightning’s on the road then SRT-10’s but you are very wrong to think for a minute there are all over the place because the logical facts just don’t back that up…
