My apologies to BigFan. I was having a ruuf day at work on Friday....

Anyway installed the autometer gauge and I saw consistently 14lbs of boost. The gauge hit 15 psi once in 3rd gear at about 5K rpms. I thought it should have shifted already so i let off the gas but maybe it would have went higher

Wow, that has to be a record. You gained 6-7psi of boost with an air filter an ported blower :o

PS, your stock boost gauge is very broken if it is going to the 9 oclock position with 14-15psi of boost.

halflife,

What does Apten charge for a ported upper intake? If I'm going to remove all the stuff, I might as well consider upgrading it before reinstalling.

When are you going to the dyno or track? I'd be very interested to see what kind of power its making, and I'm sure you are too.

Thx.

I did mine about a year ago and I think it was 450 on a group buy. I think there is one going on now over at NLOC for 395. What ever the cost, if you are not going to upgrade to a new blower then the port is worth it.

Working from memory I think I say 20 rwhp and 17 trq, after adding the blower PNP and a 160 thermo on a new tune. Went to the track the next day and ran a 12.5 but blew my motor on the run so who knows how much better I would have ran. It was .2 tenths better in the 1/4 mile

Halflife,
How much leaner did you run with the ported blower?

Hard to tell, I never did a run after I installed the apten without changing the tune first.

Right now I have the stock pulley on. I am hopefully going to PSP one night this week to get a dyno tune. I will see if I can get Sal to do a run on the current setup and then put my 4lber on. I was going to put the 4lb on before to save the labor cost but I am sure Sal will cut me a deal for the sake of science

On another note, I have been running the ported blower with no chip for a few days now and I threw a code for a misfire in #6.
I pulled the plug and the electrode was off center and someone on the board said it could be from detonation....I will not be getting into boost until I get a tune (unless of coarse I run into an srt-10 that wants to lose some money!)

Did I read this right? With stock pullies, program and just a filter, and porting you damaged the plugs???

I really would have thought that you would still be really safe.
