Wrx Sti Kill?

So I am on my way home from the gym last night and what do I see coming my way?......... a subaru wrx sti, he makes a u-turn and starts to come my way. I am cruising at about 30mph when he gets on my passenger side and starts reving the engine at me (he definitely had exhaust work, but it still sounded like someone was farting in a can)....so I roll down the window and just point straight ahead and he guns it first and then I stomp it........I immediately put 3 car lengths on him!!...I slow down and he pulls back up and says "let's run for money" and I laugh and say "why run for money when I just took your pride", he gets all pissy and defensive. So then he is like "lets go to the track", and I am like "Dude, this is street racing....this is here and now, not some other time!" so I am working the little terds nerves right about now and he nails it again and I put 3 cars on him again! He catches back up to me at the red light and says "what you think because you got a V8 you can beat me"....bla,bla,bla...then he gets a temper tantrem and starts to tell me how he runs 11.2 in the 1/4mile and has 495 horses to the wheels..............BS!! So after that I just laughed at him and rolled my window up! First of all, I have an '04 stock L, and I realize that if we would have went from a dead stop he would have eaten me up.........but we went from a roll and I mutilated and humiliated that subaru WRX S*H*i*t!

You can't really say the car is ****, as it is a good piece of engineering and the looks are just personal preference.

As far as the CRY BABY driver, he is another story. I hate losing also but it happens and you just go back to the garage and add more power instead of acting like an idiot. I'm not sure why he had to make the V-8 comment. Fast is fast, does it really matter how you got there and why.

........... (sounded like someone was farting in a can)....................
you've heard that before ?

dosent sound like you met a worthy driver.....the STI can give a stock lightning all it wants with the right driver, so be prepared for mutilated and humiliated........

WRX STI is an awesome piece of engineering... nice car.
I personally have seen them run 13.5 stock....
and Nathan has been 13.0 ........on a hot day

I agree they are fast cars, but not as fast from a roll..........the major contributor to their fast 1/4mile times is the launch off the line and the 60' times. And yes I have heard the "farting in a can" phrase before.

Hey all, I just picked up my 2004 Lightning last week (silver). This is my second L (had a 2000 previously). Anyway, back on subject, I traded my 2004 STi for the new L. Stock for stock, the L doesn't have anything on the STi. They're very similar when comparing average 1/4 mile stats (ET and trap). I'm not the best driver, but I managed a 13.4x@103 in my stock STi. From a roll above 60 I would give the advantage to the STi.

IMHO, calling the STi **** is just ignorance.

Either a very poor Sti pilot or a WRX posing as an STi. From a roll he should have no problem taking a stock L. As to his 495 whp comment, yes that would put him at a low 11 to high 10 range. Obviously that was grossly embelished. From a roll with that power he would have lit up all four tires. Having been in a true 400whp STi I have some experience here. At 400 whp it is traction limited in 2nd, 3rd, and most of 4th gears. The 400whp car I was in runs 12.0-11.8 (trap speeds well into the 120's) all day long.

You had a fun "kill" but not a good test.

True true, I know that the L would lose to the sti in a real race with a better driver! But this kid lost to the L and I was just telling the story............fun it was though!

I'm not sure if we are STI lovers or just appreciate good engineering and a fun vehicle.

Now if you concentrated more on the kid being a PUNK ,then we would have sided with you, as was the case. Now get back to the garage to add more power so you don't have to be humiliated like some of the guys are saying is possible.

Cool car, *ss of a driver... let's give ZEM a break here. He ran into bozo, handed him some on a platter (not once, but repeated times) and shared the experience.

Back when I was running mid-10s in my Mustang, I had some punk kid yell at me (and this was at the track), "cut your motor in half and we'll beat you". To which I calmly replied, "no, my friend, I'd still be making over 300rwhp, which will stomp you badly". He was driving some Civic Si which ran 14.xx at the time.

So I've heard it all from these people. You ran into one.

And sorry, but most STi's don't run high-12s bone stock, unless you're below sea level (HRP or the tracks in the Northeast) and/or driving downhill. I've raced several from a roll and beat them to 85+mph when I shut down, and they were not pulling on me. I don't know if they were stock...probably were, or close to it. I don't care if the guy can drive well or not. I don't make conversation with them, to be honest. I'm not going to get into a talking match. If you lose, tip your cap (unless you're the one wearing it backwards ), show some respect, or tuck tail and go home.

Good post WA 2 FST.

I never understood peoples ignorance. I'm sure as hell not stopping anyone from running what they want, so if your car is slower, then that's your problem not mine. Why should any of us take off power adders or reduce cubic inches. What is fair anyway? Plus it wouldn't be much fun to be fair and have the same mods and power as everyone else.

I always find it funny that owners of other vehicles say it is unfair that a lightning has a supercharger. Most of these comments come from people driving cars that weigh in the neighborhood of 1400lbs. less than a L. I would guess that even with the "unfair" supercharger the power to weight ratio in a L is very close to most performance cars. Funny they never offer to pull a 1400 lb. trailer behind their car.
